Re: Air Belgium in 2020
Air Belgium continues flying for Surinam Airways, waiting for their 777-200 to be certified.
And the airline also said to take a decision in the 14 days to come, to maintain the initial date of take-off for its Brussels - Mauritius route.

From what I read in the Surinam press, there is nothing wrong with PZ-TCU. The problem is the 777 crew. They need to be ETOPS180 certified, but their training hampers. Making the crew ETOPS180 was part of the lease contract with Boeing, and it included training at the Boeing flight simulator centre in Miami. But then came corona/Covid-19, making it impossible for the PY pilots to travel to Miami as planned.TLspotting wrote: ↑10 Oct 2020, 20:14 Air Belgium continues flying for Surinam Airways, waiting for their 777-200 to be certified.
Without the ETOPS180, the flight time for Paramaribo-Amsterdam would raise from 10 hours to 13 hours. That makes it too hard for Surinam Airways to compete against TUI and KLM.

Air Belgium is storing two aircraft for Winter 2020/2021, a few days ago , OO-ABD was flown to Lourdes, France
This is Air Belgium’s response to aviation24’s question: “given the reduced demand and current operational restrictions du to COVID-19, we have logically decided to differ maintenance and checks and temporarily park and store 2 aircraft for the winter.”

A Dutch plane spotter at AMS reports that "Martinique/Guadeloupe" has been removed from OO-ABB.
Re: Air Belgium in 2020
Yes, the titles were removed during maintenance in August/September. All four aircraft now carry the same colours.

A 14-day quarantaine in a hotel in Mauritius isn't really a punishment I think...Passenger wrote: ↑26 Nov 2020, 22:14

As long as one is allowed to leave the room and use the hotel facilities...
