Yes cargo.
"The current 20,000 tonnes a week is therefore an increase of about 15% on 2019 levels. However, growth could be higher when the impact of the coronavirus on FedEx/TNT’s normal schedule flights at Liège is factored in."

One new local key player, AirBridgeCargo, seems to have stopped all flights at LGG. They moved their operations back to AMS.

Remember ABC left Amsterdam for Liege in late 2018 !

 If you can move operations that fast and that easily, it shows LGG has to work a lot of their own added value and create strong stickyness... so far its not a success at all.
They can be thankful that some other loyal players are increasing traffic and compensate somewhat the loss.
Lets not forget LGG was a very important entry for masks when we needed them the most, too bad they couldnt maintain the momentum

Well they are building a euro hub in LGG, not exactly trivial is it ?

But as I said, AMS is something you cant fight against.
Losing against MST is just plain failure.

Maybe it hurts that a small airport which is bound to so much restrictions, is still able to be a competitor for Liège. They must be doing something good then...

Liege wouldn’t be that big without the borders so close by, and without all the restrictions at other airports (even at Brussels). For me I am happy that I don’t live near Liège, specially at night.

Not that many indeed... a few qatar, saudia and ethiopian
Still, would be good to understand how they did it. They barely have any benefits over LGG, i guess its more due to distraction from LGG mgmt. Thats why I allow myself to shake the tree a bit, because yes it hurts and its hard to understand.
But peanuts indeed.

Could it be because they lack staff at LGG ? Some people could be unavailable due to covid-19 symptoms!

The activity at EBLG is growing so much that the airport called on the Belgian military to supply additional fuel from EBMB.

Quote :
Due to increased activity at the airport, they can no longer meet the demand for kerosene in the usual ways. This weekend, they called on BPO to pump additional kerosene into tankers.
Thirty-three trucks were filled last weekend.

Unquote/

BPO, Belgian Pipeline Organization.

I thought LGG was connected to the nato pipeline, its not enough apparently, weird because other sources mention the traffic is barely increased...
Airbridgecargo alone could potentially generate much more traffic than this no ?

Will you ever survive that ABC story?
The number of long haul flights increased at LGG recently, with or without ABC.
I think that Acid-drop fears that ABC won't return to LGG once the crisis is over. Cargo traffic will return to normal levels once the passengers flights return in a few months. The question is whether ABC will return to LGG or remain at AMS. That will be a reduction of traffic in LGG. For now, any medium size to large airport not handling more freighters does something terribly wrong.

Hi
There will be no restrictions for cargo in AMS after this crisis..Simple reason:enough slots now that pax traffic will me much declining..For example KLM is becoming smaller..So , no I don't think Air Bridge will return to LGG..Same in BRU here..We lost LATAM to AMS..For good I'm afraid..

So let's hope the contract signed between Liege Airport and ABC will protect LGG !

So ABC will come back... most likely. Hopefully.
Good luck with fuel then, ABC means some serious growth.
Maybe. The world will be a different place now

If you look at the sustained growth Liège has established last two decades, I can't understand why people still want to downgrade the airport. Liège has some problems, yes, but I would call them "growing pains" rather than evidence of failure.

True
Byt the first step of any improvement process is a clear definition of the areas of weakness.
We are just avgeeks trying to understand, for now for me its not 100% clear yet. So yes no surprise i focus on the bad rather than the good today, we had other focus previously

Just my 2c's: the airport (freight) is working at the edge of their capacity limits which is a fantastic thing compared to 20 years ago. The sustained growth has been incredible. This does create "short term" hickups like fuel problems, de-icing problems, parking spots, even the daily pushback delays because of the simple military layout of the airport.

Long term this is not sustainable, so I guess it will depend on how the airport is managed if these problems remain temporary. This is partly airport management, only future will tell if the problems remain "temporary hickups", or these problems are here to stay. I can however say there seems to be a lot of stuff "moving" and a lot of cooperation with the major players. I don't know a lot of airports that cooperate in such a close manner with their main clients. Really close.

But it is also Belgium level management. There is the crazy "Liège bubble" feeling in Belgium. Everytime I go there at night I'm initially confronted with Brussels ATC who "have to work hard but seem more bothered by Liège traffic than anything else", they don't seem to talk to Liège, they just "do their thing" and then throw you in the "Liège bubble" where everything is about "making it happen" on a sometimes crazy busy nighttrain.

For some reason Liège has to fight for its position, even though they are making it happen. I would be happy Belgium, but you are not?

That would be too specific and only make people focus on details and not the general picture...

I don't see a lot of "deep" coordination between Brussels and Liège. Brussels just does what they need to: sequence and hand off to Liège approach. There are controllers in Brussels who really try to help Liège, but others just seem to sit "in their bubble". If both would sit around the table and accept Liège needs a lot more these days than simple sequencing from Brussels, rushhour would become a lot easier to manage. But that requires the acceptance that Liège is becoming very important (maybe more important than Brussels at night...? yeah, go kill me, I've said it :-))
