Saudi Arabia has banned nationals of India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Philippines, and Indonesia, airlines of all these countries are affected as well as the Saudi carriers that operate there.

Argentina has barred all European and US carriers from flying there for a month, as well as flights of Aerolineas Argentinas and LATAM Argentina to those places.

Austria is cancelling all flights to Switzerland, Spain and France as of Monday, 16 March 2020.

Qatar Airways CEO Akbar Al-Baker doubts the existence of coronavirus that has already reached 126 countries and territories, infecting more than 132,000 people worldwide. Has "His Excellency" become completely nuts?

If the coronavirus crisis lasts another 2-3 months, it could force carriers to collapse and spark more consolidation in the industry, IATA chief de Juniac stated today. de Juniac also said revenue losses would be “probably above” $113 billion estimated a week ago.

British Airways CEO Alex Cruz said: “Some of us have worked in aviation through the global financial crisis, the Sars outbreak and 9/11. What is happening right now as a result of Covid-19 is more serious than any of these events. It is a crisis of global proportions like no other we have known."

British airways to lay off “up to 40%” of it’s staff short term and maybe longer term. Looking into faster retirement of older aircraft and parking newer ones.

Pakistan has restricted international flights to its three main gateways Karachi, Islamabad and Lahore only, international flights from seven other airports are to be suspended. Airlines from the Gulf region serve five of those.

Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) of Pakistan, has informed local airlines/aircraft operators that travel to any foreign country by pilots/inspectors/examiners for Operator Proficiency Check (OPC)/Pilot Proficiency Check (PPC) or any Foreign Check has been stopped with immediate effect till further orders.

Meanwhile, reports are emerging that national governments are going to be asked to bail out their flag carriers, including our government.

The Lufthansa Group is in talks with the German, Belgian, Swiss and Austrian governments for coordinated government aid to the airlines in its group.

IATA has indeed called on governments to consider extending lines of credit, reducing infrastructure costs and cutting taxes amid the coronavirus outbreak, as airlines appealed for urgent government financial support.

That would be starting a dangerous game, unless the EU puts limits on the level of assistance that could be provided to airlines. Otherwise, Italy will jump on the opportunity to save Alitalia at any cost. France with its nationalistic habits will inject whatever is necessary to keep Air France afloat. And Germany will maintain its assistance to Lufthansa at the lowest possible level. And in the UK, Johnson is unpredictable.

So far for the "level playing field" that the EU is supposed to protect.

Emirates is seeking to delay delivery of its last eight A380 orders, as the coronavirus pandemic hits demand for flights.

Iberia suspended its flights to Guatemala and El Salvador, as a preventive measure against coronavirus.

Kenya Airways has suspended flights to Rome and Geneva in response to developments following the coronavirus outbreak. The suspension was effective from 13 March to 30 April 2020.

Norwegian calls for government assistance amid the extraordinary situation caused by the coronavirus epidemic. The carrier will continue to reduce costs even further.

OAG says the new US-EU travel ban will have profound implications for the global aviation market. Between the US and the Schengen countries have 10.9% of international flights and 16.9% of scheduled international air seats will be affected by the ban. Overall, 2 million seats on about 6,747 flights will be affected.

Royal Air Maroc is forced to ground a third of its fleet, about 20 aircraft, as it copes with the lack of demand due to the coronavirus. RAM also implemented an austerity plan to mitigate the consequences.

TAP Air Portugal to reduce its capacity over the coming months by around 2,500 flights in addition to the reduction of 1,000 flights recently announced — an equivalent to 7% of all flights scheduled in March, 11% of flights in April and 19% of flights in May 2020.

Brazil’s government is preparing a rescue package to airlines, amid the advancement of the coronavirus.
