Hopefully they still make it to the TOP 20 ??l
Last year they were only place 24, so no, they will not be in the top 20 either.

Unbelievable. About three years after the biggest terror attack ever in Belgium, the airport has not only recovered, but also has set a new passengers record. But some people suggest it's not that good at all...

Congratulations, Brussels Airport!

Exactly. Even in not easy circumstances with our home carrier. Transit and especially transfer is growing very well. It will be even bigger next year.

I even can announce already, bcs we see per month already how many pax booked via the carriers, that in November next year we also will have more then 2 million pax. This makes 9 months a year with more then 2 million

What now important is is to grow further after a few Star Alliance carriers offering new flights/bigger metal to BRU.

India is a huge market. Daily flights are needed.
African continent is the biggest potential. I a couple of years they will have mega cities who will be larger then NY. To not only fly by ourself but to attract also those new carriers from there.
American continent with flights to South America and flights to Houston, SF, Boston and evening flight to NY

BRU really needs more Transfer PAX.

With a weak home carrier, we cannot expect too much.
SN cannot even fill a few flights a day to Turin, Nantes etc... FR takes all the local PAX to such destinations..
A fleet of at least 12 Embraers or equivalent are needed to fill the gaps in the network. These gaps are actually very imporatant business destinations.

USA : let us hope UA will consider SFO, IAH; AA is strongest at LAX & PHI. DL could opene BOS.
CHINA : poorly represented at BRU.
KOREA is also great for its rich tourist and business potential.
LATAM : Mexico & Colombia are countries with a big middle class with money (to visit Europe). See how well KL is doing there.

BRU being located in the Center of EUROPE, with so much room for extension while others are saturated ,
it is pityful to see things moving soo slowly...

Another armchair airport manager? GO FOR IT! Convince them you can do better and then DO better! They'll be glad to make you welcome! Handsfull of money to be gained!

Otherwise, you had better be content to observe the airport is - to say the very least - not doing any worse than its competitors - as rightly pointed out by @Passenger and by others.

I just express my opinion here. Is that OK for you ??
No ambition to become CEO.

Still it is clear that BRU could do lots better given the location and the potential.
The airport is far too expensive (ask Terzakis) and missing chances to grow.

A good step was at least to put a new CEO at the top of SN.
The German lady was, let us say, not the right person.

A more dynamic person at the top of BRU, defending the comfort and convenience of the PAX, instead of the sole money interests of the (greedy ??) shareholders would be of great help.
But his mandate has be extended for another 5 or 6 years.

You are welcome to your opinion, yes, of course, for what it is worth. As I've stated before: opinions are plenty, and cheap - everybody has several on hand. Better have more to offer, though, than criticism from the side line - that is all too easy. Like all those "supporters" at Anderlecht FC, these days - much noise, very little substance.

Again: the airport is not doing all that bad, rather the contrary. And of course the CEO will do what the shareholders require, that's what she/he is paid for.

What the management of any airline has to do with the management of the airport remains open to explanation.

Good comparison:
Anderlecht and BRU.
I see similarities : RASC = Club with great potential and an impressive record; extreme poor management. BRU : Airport with great potential,...

Ajax & AMS : huge potential and getting better and bigger, reasonable dividend paid to shareholders.
Shareholders acting more responsibly, thinking about future. Not quick bucks.

I fully agree. But I can't stop wondering where BRU would stand today if the 2016 attacks didn't happen... Close to 30 million?

Is this what you hope for? What BAC is working towards or what might be in the pipeline?

The only truly missed opportunity imho is building A pier West. When the plan got shelved in 2014 (?) they should have gone ahead with it. Construction could well be underway or even finished by now. The organisation of the T-zone is a mess and having a seemless transfer platform for the dominant alliance (Star) between shengen en non shengen might be an incentive for *A-airlines to expand at the airport.

The Schiphol Group is in hands of the Dutch state (70%), the city of Amsterdam (20%) and the city of Rotterdam (2%), the remaining 8% are in hands of Aeroports de Paris (The SG has a similar share in this company). It even owns 100% of the operator of JFK terminal 4.

So hardly comparable.

BAC is majority owned by private investors who, if you like it or not, want to see a healthy ROI.

So if anyone is to blame it is the Belgian state who never showed much interest in aviation, who never proved to be a visionary owner (BATC, Sabena, NMBS,...) and who since the new millenium has been very fast in selling many of its assets.

I m comparing airports with airports, and airlines with airlines. Very comparable I think..

But indeed, the problem is total lack of vision of our many governments.

Regardless of how you think BRU is doing you can't blame a single person or entity. Everyone needs to work together to have a big hub in a small country and the needed vision simply isn't there. Compare not only the airport ownership with AMS but what recently happened after AFKL tried to fire the KL CEO who had big support among staff and politicians: the Dutch government put up E 750 million in a few weeks time to become a major shareholder and the CEO is still there. Can you imagine the Belgian state do the same with LH? In the past it's the same, while both government owned SN was managed politically and KL as a business.

It's never to late to change things though. One can hope for a comprehensive aviation agenda in Belgium someday. 8-) Something like this would be a good start. https://www.luchtvaartindetoekomst.nl/l ... fault.aspx (Dutch)

Basicly you were comparing airports with airports, true. But in order to explain the difference in management, you need to compare the ownership. One is mainly state owned while the other is mainly privately owned. The first is driven by national interest, the latter by financial interest.

In the meantime The Netherlands has a budget surplus equally high as the Belgian deficit.

Belgium is basicly bankrupt.

Mr Terzakis cannot decide by his own where to fly from which airport. He even expressed that he would like but one of the shareholders don't want bcs the Walloon invested in Air Belgium and they want to keep them there.
As a new start up and on top of this starting with new destinations not served via BRU, Martinique etc they would receive big discounts
