Only 7 days away from their first flight to FDF & PTP.

AB / LOT extended until 27 March 2020 on JFK/EWR and YYZ routes.

Heard too that 2 340's will go end of spring for their 12Y check.

Meaning A/C utilisation would be around 3.5/4....not bad...
They are probably looking now for additional A/C's, leasing companies have just what they need in stock since the latest bankruptcies.
I hope they go for the 330neo.

There are opportunities for them at BRU: PVG for example, abandoned by Hainan..Or to US (BOS or SFO/LAX)..But should acquire A330 's than!

About A330's or other large twins, I was wondering if Air Belgium selected the quads to avoid the potential restrictions that would be put on a new operator wanting to fly ETOPS without a track record. If anything they should at one point be considered mature enough for a temporary ETOPS certificate and go for less engines in the future. It will sure help with the fuel bill, to balance with the lease rates.

The NEO is probably a good option with long range and A340 commonality. Wonder if they'd go for the 800 or 900. 777's are fast becoming too old (200) or too big (300, 8 & 9). Only the 787 family would also have made sense but I guess pricier and no path from 4 to 2 engines.

Air Belgium is currently leasing to LOT Polish Airlines a 3rd Airbus A343, OO-ABA.

The 3rd service is from 28 December until 31 January 2020, from Warsaw to Chicago (and Chicago - Kraków).

According to Airline Route, Air Belgium A340 will continue operating for LOT Polish Airlines until late-October 2020!

If they will lease an other 340 to LOT and flying with 1 340 to Martinique, they used all available equipment and no space for own growth in opening own destinations

No clue in their booking system, I just checked at a random day.

Yes and no.
There is a 3rd A343 at Warsaw (with 9H-SOL of Hi Fly Malta), due to many groundings at LOT, and the service of ABA is only expected for a month.

ABB only flies approximately 48 hours per week (so only 28% per week), and it can fly for other airlines when it doesn't fly to the French Antilles.

Newrest Belgium serves Air Belgium to French West Indies

Newrest Belgium teams supported Air Belgium for the launch of their two weekly flights from Brussels-Charleroi airport to Fort-de-France and Pointe-à-Pitre. Meals for Business, Premium and Economy classes, inspired by local gastronomy, are prepared by our teams from Brussels and the flight assembled and delivered by those from Charleroi.

LOT gets permit to fly to Canada with aircraft operated by Air Belgium throughout 2020 :
https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/air- ... hout-2020/

The most surprising is that everyone thinks that the leasing is only to Canada but they have flown to NYC as well since February 2019, and it should not stop soon, LOT registered 2 A343 just to be sure that they can use both OOABD and OOABE (ABA & ABB, if they are used, are going to fly on other routes).

Meanwhile, the Kruispuntbank Ondernemingen / Banque-Carrefour des Entreprises shows that the capital/kapitaal from Air Belgium nv/sa has been raised from 20.000.000 € to 21.937.670 €:
