Re: Strikes affecting Belgian airports in 2019
There we go again. The leftist trade union says that negociations for a new Collective Agreement at the national Safety/Security branch are not going the way they want it to go. To put pressure on employers, they organize a protest meeting at Navo Evere on Tuesday. "We expect a lot of people working at Brussels Airport", HLN.be reports. The airport confirms that there will be -most probably- longer waiting times then normal.

Negocations for a new national agreement have failed, so the trade unions now prepare "spontane acties" - sudden disruption. They already told that they will focus on Brussels Airport. For an obvious reason: any disruption there results in immediate national press coverage. And with social elections forthcoming, press coverage is part of the power play campaign between the union themselves.

The general strike in France today has affected 8 flights to/from Belgium: SN cancelled return flights to LYS and TLS, and FR cancelled return flights to ALC and BCN (not exactly in France, by flying over French airspace).

Train services to and from Brussels Airport will be disrupted on Thursday 19/12. Only one out of three trains will operate due to a national railway strike.
