Cannot disclose more for the time being, but from a high level and very reliable source. Guess we need to have a bit of patience.
Yes, thank you.

Just guesses for long haul :
AA to/from PHL.
SA to/from JNB (but unlikely because of financial situation ?).
SAA (south african airlines) you mean? They are on the brink of bankruptcy, maybe you haven't heard but there was a massive strike 2 weeks ago which only made things worse for them. Out of their long haul network. only Munich and Frankfurt are profitable at the moment.
British airways even flies 2 daily to JNB right now from LHR ( 2x an A380 completely full! ) , thrice weekly to Durban with an 787 and once daily to Cape Town with a B747.
While SAA flies only to London once daily now with a smaller A330-300 which isn't even full. ( just to sketch their situation )

As I understood, SN would be seasonal and additional to AC
SN will fly seasonal 5 times a week to YUL. AC will fly from both cities to BRU
Thanks for the info! So basically SN will put extra capacity in summer time to YUL and AC replaces them on YYZ. That’s a lot of capacity, combined with Air Transat
Hi 737Max,

A lot of capacity indeed, but the demand is there. Loads are really good. And configuration will be even better, especially for SN.
AC will indeed also add one flight extra, one extra destination which they took over from SN, Toronto. Type of aircraft will change according to the demand

For the moment, nothing can be released till everything is settled and to give the honor to the airline itself.
It was already discussed in other topics regarding the return of "certain" airlines. You even can make it wider and think also about the Far East.
But for sure, it will be great to have them back

How about Asiana and Seoul? Two years ago, talks were held in light of the Flemish trade mission to the South-Korean capital. Time will tell...

The absence of AA is really something strange if you ask me, wherever from in the USA.

SA never served BRU if I'm not mistaken, or that must be over 30 years ago?!

From the Far East we have MH, MU, OZ and of course SQ who have come and gone.

Or the famous TP LIS-BRU-MFM ;)

AA left BRU bcs they lost the cooperation with SN
Recently AA lost the cooperation with LATAM after the "takeover" by Delta

But I agree fully with you, AA is really missing and would make OneWorld stronger at BRU which is already quite strong

Indeed. SA is on the verge of collapse.

YUL makes even more sense for SN than YYZ. The Québec province and Québec City attract a lot of belgian tourists, among which many French speaking for an obvious reason.
Of course it would be better for SN if AC would discontinue its own flights to YUL and concentrate on YYZ, which is a better hub for them to other North American destinations.

Yes they did, 30+ years back.
Used to fly BRU-JNB with a stop over in MAD to top up the fuel tanks and fly all around Africa as they did not have the rights to fly straight down.
Using a 747 SP.
Leaving BRU in the evening and waking up in the morning realizing you were still 2 hours before reaching the coast and turn left.
All this is history, now probably soon going tits up.

The 747 SP (for "Special Performance") was a shorter version of the "normal" 747, with longer range and, of course, fewer seats. Long time since I saw this typical plane.

Kind of disagree on this. AC and Air Transat have french speaking crew (native, I mean) from YUL. SN is very rarely the case.
I was not refering to the crews, but to the French-speaking Quebecans. Regarding the SN crews, they're all fluent in French (albeit with a pleasant accent for some of them :) )!
737MAX wrote: 29 Nov 2019, 16:09 And sadly enough, AC has a much better product than SN on their 787 fleet. Curious about Air Transat with their new A321LR. Probably pretty good too!
That's another matter and you"re right that AC has an advantage there.

Competition has never been so high one some of these routes... My bet: sadly enough, within the year another carrier will step out of some of these destinations...
