In general: the failure of the 737 MAX caused a mess to the whole aviation world.

Regarding TUI.be: they did a remarkable job indeed: even without 737 MAX ops, they've managed to realize their summer schedule program with almost no disturbance for passengers (apart from the usual schedule changes). And they've managed to add additional flights/packages.

TUI (UK) announced that Orlando Melbourne International Airport will become the Florida gateway for all customers travelling to Orlando and Central Florida beginning 2022. Flights will be operated with the B787.

TUI fly Belgium used to fly to Orlando Sanford, close to the city of Orlando. If they resume such flights (like they will resume Miami), it will probably also be to Melbourne, which is more than 110 km away from Orlando. Not really an improvement for passengers...

Care to explain why Melbourne is "not really an improvement for passengers"?
Instead of supposing, why don't you give some arguments?
Such as...;

- Melbourne = faster immigration/less queues than SFB
- Transport is most of the time included with TUI for packages, if any time is lost in commuting, passengers will win anyway thanks to shorter waiting times at Melbourne
- Easy starting point for cruises, which is *the* main goal for TUI pax from Florida
- Orlando is not really a city trip destination...

Distance really doesn't matter in this case. I don't quite see why this would be of any inconvenience to these passengers.
I think it doesn't matter...

Closer to Cape Canaveral
Further from the Mouse

Hi

Anyone can tell me, if the TUI Fly Belgium Montpellier-Casablanca works well ? I have just seen, that flights will end on 7Nov19, instead of 26 Oct 19. I guess it's due to All Saints Holidays. Flights on 7nov19 are already full. However it looks that the route will be operated year around (Mondays and Thrusdays are in bold), but bookings are closed. Someone can confirm ?

They were planned to replace Rynair, on CRL-Montpellier, but they closed bookings, few weeks, before the 1st flight. Ryanair left Montpellier in March 2019, and they now operate flights, from Béziers (70km, from Montpellier). CRL is served from Nimes (45km) and thus Béziers, by Ryanair.

You can read the interview of the TuiFly Belgium spokesperson by the Montpellier Airport, only in French. The article is too big to be translated, directly from the link. You can only translate, by putting parts of text https://www.montpellier.aeroport.fr/act ... ntpellier/

Thanks
Hello

Tui has removed Montpellier, from its booking system. At the begining, fligths were supposed to end, early November 2019, but during mid summer, the airline decided to keep the service for the IATA Winter season 2019/2020, so it was supposed to be a year around service. But it seems that the airline has changed its mind.

I can understand, because there are already 2 airlines, on the Montpellier-Casablanca service and the demand is weakest, in winter, than in summer: Air Arabia Maroc and Royal Air Maroc link Montpellier to CMN. We are still waiting for the Transavia destinations, from Montpellier, maybe Casablanca will be on the map. Transavia France will open a base at Montpellier, from April 2020.

Anyone knows, if TUI will be back to Montpellier in 2020 ?

You have to force it in TUI booking system but indeed they head back to Miami from 4 April 2020, 2 times per week, on Tuesday and Saturday, until 24 October 2020.

Strange that TUI flies to Miami only in Summer. Miami is rather a winter destination for Americans trying to escape the cold of the Northern cities of New York and Chicago!

I don’t think many Americans take TUI to fly from New York or Chicago to Miami.

The relevance of the Americans is lost to me too, but I get the point. It's a nice winter sun destination, also to find some nice hot temperatures during our winter. It indeed seems strange that TUI decides to fly to Miami in arguably the least favourable season for traveling to Florida.

I think you would be surprised !!

Last winter several planes & crews were based in USA (and Canada) to fly US and Cdn people to the South.
Mexico , Caribean,.. maybe also Miami, Orlando ? Wet lease I guess.

Maybe some TUI crew can give more details.

I only meant that Americans rather fly to Miami in winter. And, after all, maybe they fly on a TUI aircraft leased to an American or Canadian airline for the winter :D

It was clear what you ment, but the fact that New Yorkers fly to Miami is not relevant when discussing the viability of BRU-MIA during the winter season. Some may even fly on a wet leased TUI aircraft, but that isn’t relevant either.
If there would be a market for BRU MIA in winter TUI or someone else would operate it for sure.
Why always be negative? An airline operates a seasonal intercontinental flight and people are moaning it’s not year round, using absurd arguments. Pfff! Rant over.

TUI Airlines Belgium to launch Casablanca-Barcelona service from 10 April 2020, with B737-800. Far from bases!

It’s been a long time since I’ve had my last experience with the Moroccan side of their operation, but the last time I did, crew composition was mixed. Usually one BE pilot and one local pilot, or a full BE flight deck. Cabin crew was mixed as well, usually one BE CCM and two or three, dependant on aircraft type, local CCMs.
Quite a fun experience, honestly.
