BRU-EDI & EDI-BRU

Post by Ozzie1969 »

Here's a short report on my flight to Edinburgh and back to visit Edinburgh with my 2 sons :

First flight :

Flight date : 20th August 2019

Operated by Brussels Airlines

Aircraft type : Airbus A319, registration OO-SSW

From Brussels to Edinburgh (BRU-EDI)

Seats : 3A, 3B, 3C.

Scheduled time of departure : 15.45
Effective time of departure : 16.02
Scheduled time of arrival : 16.25
Effective time of arrival : 16.15
Scheduled duration of the flight : 1h 40min
Effective duration of the flight : 1h 30min

Loadfactor : estimated 99%

Catering was free for business passengers (first 2 rows), just a sandwich and a drink with a newspaper.

On arrival at Edinburgh airport we walked from the plane unto the tarmac (first thing I set foot in on Scottish soil was a puddle of rainwater :) ) to take one of 2 buses waiting to take us to the airport building. Baggage claim was fast : only a couple of minutes before my suitcase appeared.

Second flight :

Flight date : 27th August 2019

Operated by Brussels Airlines

Aircraft type : Airbus A319, registration OO-SSV

From Edinburgh to Brussels (EDI-BRU)

Seats : 13A, 13B, 13C.

Scheduled time of departure : 17.15
Effective time of departure : 17.35
Scheduled time of arrival : 19.55
Effective time of arrival : 20.05
Scheduled duration of the flight : 1h 40min
Effective duration of the flight : 1h 30min

Loadfactor : estimated 95%
Catering same as the first flight.

The usual long walk to customs and the baggage claim area, but guess what ? No damaged Luggage. First time ever at Brussels Airport ! Thanks Zaventem, and hope to see you again soon, my beloved Scotland !

Thanks for reporting flights that were apparently excellent.

Well spotted. You might want to replace 'ib' by 'in' in yours.

Edinburgh is a wonderful airport. I was there recently (though I don't like the "live" flight arrivals and departures on their website!)
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.

The thing I didn't like about EDI is that there is no seating in the check-in area (unless you go outside).
