Re: Wizz Air in 2019
What kind of traffic could they be aiming for? Kutaisi is meant to be the country's low-cost airport, and I hear of adventure-inclined Belgian people travelling there for holidays. So yes, services to CRL or HHN might well meet with some success. but who would be the typical passenger to/from Napoli or Irakleion? Rich Georgians going on their holidays?
Re: Wizz Air in 2019
Well yes, there is a middle class.
And, with the conflict with Russia getting worse again (sigh), the only place you can easily get to, as a Georgian, is Turkey and the European Union
(https://www.theguardian.com/world/2019/ ... to-georgia)
I am also a bit surprised they don't fly from TBS though, I honestly think that (very) soon I will go there.
There are lots of actions going on to compensate the loss of Russian tourism, these routes might also get some subisidies (https://eeas.europa.eu/headquarters/hea ... -signed_en)
Btw, one of my favorite restaurants in Tallinn is a Georgian one. Not a fan of the sweet red wine though..

Wizz Air UK launches flights from London Luton to Turku.
Wizz Air has no interest in bidding for Thomas Cook Group airlines, which the tour operator has put up for sale, though it could look at individual airport slots that might become available.
Wizz Air is considering using its A321XLR fleet to launch flights from London to Dubai and even central Europe to India. The airline has no plans to deploy them on trans-Atlantic routes.
