I Is BRU brewing on something big (LATAM, Norwegian...) or what are we experiencing?

What do you think about these thoughts? Am I too negative?
Forget about Norwegian, they are financial in very deep water and not reliable for the moment. Think about what happened with Primera Air. Now also Ryanair has to take more drastic descions after not good performance.

The real grow has to come from established carriers. Like I always mentioned, LH is the pain in the ass for BRU at this moment. They really have a big influence on other carriers to not fly to BRU or to not increase the capacity, * Alliance speaking of course.
SN is also not growing just like OS. The CEO of OS wants to replace the long haul fleet but he received a "NO" from LH bcs they are not profitable.
This is really cutting your wings

If for this year or not, we will see, but rather for next year I believe as talks with Far East, African and South America carriers is ongoing.

If LH don't allow to grow here, than other carriers from other alliances will do ;)

Egyptair is going to increase the number of flights to BRU with an extra flight on Saturday. Egyptair will offer then 6 flights a week in codeshare with Brussels Airlines

I knew it from the newsletter but something to know is that the sheet of paper with flights info at "Salon des Vacances" at Brussels Expo states well that there are only 5 flights per week...

I'm always shocked how Flemish this airport is this morning while I clearly speak in French the answer always comes back in Dutch.
I have to tell them that I don't understand Dutch to make the employees speak French with me!!!!!
I'm the only one to experience this?????

Hi,

Sounds like Brussels City when you speak Dutch and only get answers in French ;) !

Ridiculous both ways nevertheless....

Well French stays difficult for a lot of flemish people .. Maybe English is a great common for communication but It shouldn't be thé case when working in our national airport..

Being Flemish I regret that some of my fellow Flemish speaking Belgians don't speak French as 20 years ago whereas the French speaking Belgians have improved their knowledge of Flemish. On average the Flemish speak better French than the the French speaking speak Dutch but still...

When working at "an airport" in Belgium and having contact with passengers one should speak at least Dutch, French and English. I'm sorry for the German speaking Belgians... ;-) And you speak the language of the customer aka the passenger.

Cheers,

Stij - Speaks Dutch, French, English, German and Italiano

P.S. In my professional life it's now a habit that everybody speaks his own language: fair, but even more difficult.

I am always shocked how French Brussels is every day while I clearly speak in Dutch the answer always comes back in French.
I have to tell them that I don't understand French and they still speak French with me!!!!! ;) ;) ;)

Live with it I am afraid. Zaventem STILL IS on Flemish soil with a lot of workmen coming from Flanders, while Brussels is supposed to be 'bilingual'. I stopped caring a looooooong time ago. Better for my peace of mind.

Also, main answer on this will be: 'It's Brussels airport! it's supposed to be bilingual!'

Then make it 'Brussels Airport' and let the planes fly over Brussels and Flanders and stop the 'forbidden routes' nonsense ;) Having all the benefits ( cash flow ) and non of the burdens is hardly fair now is it? 8-)

ANYWAY, sorry for going off topic.

Oh no, not again this out of topic discussion. There are other fora for that. Back to topic, please: summer 2019 at Brussels Airport. Any other post will be removed immediately.

It’s a fair discussion about the use of langages at the main belgian airport. I don’t see any problem with that, as long as nobody comes with stupid things like « fly over Brussels instead of Flanders », that’s the difficult part to avoid, I guess.
Off course I meant "fly over Brussels and Flanders" ;) :D

What’s off topic exactly? Isn’t that about Brussels Airport in 2019?
It's about BRU Summer 2019: news, routes, airlines, not languages!

LOT Polish Airlines will launch 12 weekly flights between Brussels and Budapest from 2 September.

https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/lot- ... bucharest/

To Brussels LOT will fly with E195 aircraft from Mondays to Saturdays based on the following schedule:

BUD-BRU 07:10-09:15
BRU-BUD 10:00-11:50

BUD-BRU 17:25-19:30
BRU-BUD 20:15-22:10

Thus LOT does it again: competing with a fellow Star Alliance member (SN) on the same route!

Brussel Airlines does not have 2 flights every week day to Lisboa?!?!
This is a downgrade compared to previous years?
Brussels Airlines is increasing his market share at Brussels Airport but on the Russian or Portuguese market for example they are weaker than before...
TAP will add 2 flights a day to Porto and the Faro flights are very weak once a week....
I'm surprised because Porto is a strong economic place there is a potential for the hub in Brussels.
TAP will make it with a small hub in Porto.....
Hasta la victoria siempre.

Will the Porto flights be two daily in winter timetable also?
In the winter is Brussels Airlines offering less seats than Ryanair on the Lisbon route :( ...and that with a hub and spoke!

Perhaps the winter season is less profitable than summer season ? it's all about profitability ...

SN489 on 24APR19 and 29APR19 will replace Brussels – Kigali – Entebbe – Brussels routing, although Nairobi service is not available for reservation.

Very strange. Why fly to NBO when reservation is not allowed? And why skip KGL to do that?
