For medical reasons.

And why did the plane stay in BRU for 3 hours?
Waiting for a new crew?

Agreed and anyhow, as the decision for RTB was taken while in UK airspace, it should have been a lift and not an elevator.
Not that I intend to start a nit-picker career but it gives me an excuse to crack that old one :
A Briton checking in at the reception desk of a hotel in New York :
Briton : Thank you, and where is the lift please?
Receptionist : You mean the Elevator sir? It’s an American invention.
Briton : It’s a lift. We invented the language.

Thanks Convair, you made my day
On top it is very to the point.
Most think that the company OTIS was named after Mr Otis, the inventor of the Safety Elevator, buy it is rumoured (internally) that the real meaning is :
Our
Trouble
Is
Schindler
And now back to our regular aviation programming.
