Matt wrote: 23 Nov 2018, 10:48 Been seeing a Eurowings A340-300 taking off on Wednesday, Thursday and today now for SN501, is there a problem with the A330 fleet ? It's also planned for tomorrow

It moved from being occasional to frequently.
SFT and SFY are in LIS for C-check I read on another topic here (will they return to the fleet?); SFU on maintenance at BRU I believe; SFZ apparently still AOG at BRU since the engine problem on return from Kinshasa. So, no SN A332 available for the moment.

On top of OO-SCW doing JFK (untill?), OO-SFJ (an A333 from LH with EW livery) has been doing Dakar-Banjul/Conakry for more than a week now.
I saw OO-SFY yesterday in Lisboa without engine nacelles...
isn't it in LIS for a regular check thus having pieces being removed ?

OO-SFY has/had PW4168 engines.

On the Home page, the SN Rejuvenating article referred to standardisation on Trent 772-60 engines.
Could it be that this is what they do now in LIS?
I was under the impression that changing engine type is not that simple.

Tango and Zulu have also the PW engines.

hence they're also leasing planes so unless they have an agreement from the leasing company this could be a step forward in harmonizing the entire fleet with Trent engines making it easier for maintenance

OO-SFY is 20 years old... why would they change the engines for maybe 5 years of flying ? Why make that investment? Doesn't make much sense.
Don't even know if it is possible to change the engine type on the plane. Do they have the same attachment points? same communication protocols?
I know it's possible on the B787 with Trent1000's and GEnx's but I have no clue with the A330...

Strictly impossible with the A330 (as for the B777 by the way !). SFY is certified to be PW powered. Hence its full type A330-223 ("23" being the PW suffix within Airbus).
I know you can theoretically do that with the 787, but it's only been theoretical so far.

I think Boeing did do it in Everett after the problems were confirmed with the Trent 1000's to check the feasibility... ( rumor here at work ) Don't quote me on this tough.

it wouldn't make sense to change the SFY's engines as this aircraft is leaving the fleet in a few months...

Lufthansa Group will start moving its widebodies between its five airlines according to their needs. And it started with Eurowings and Brussels Airlines:

Adria Airways (Slovenia) plans to return to profitability in 2019 following a difficult year. Adria will grow its ACMI business with plans to wet-lease additional aircraft to Austrian Airlines, Brussels Airlines, Luxair and Lufthansa in summer 2019. It will also continue growing its operations outside of Ljubljana.

Adria would use the CRJs for ACMI, the Sukhois would be for its own lines

at least that is how I understand this sentence from https://www.exyuaviation.com/2018/11/ad ... ukhoi.html "Commenting on the order, Adria's CEO said, “It is our pleasure to partner with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft Company. They will completely support Adria's development strategy. During the past two years we have been analysing the SSJ100 and came to the conclusion that all the technical and operational characteristics of this aircraft would suit our strategic goals the best”. Mr Kowarsch added that the SSJ100 would additionally free up Adria's Bombardier and Airbus fleet for ACMI contracts"

Cranfield doesn't have a 3-letter code, perhaps that's why the system got confused.
Indeed, she left BHX soon after landing there then went for Cranfield University field. On the way OO-DWF overflew the old RAE ar Bedford, the birth place of the BAe / Avro.

OO-DWF is parked in front of our University its B737 awaiting its fate.
OO-DWF is now EP-FQZ, now flying for Qeshm Air Iran:

On the unofficial LH Group fleet table, OO-SSC (the only Star Alliance livery in SN's fleet) is indicated as stored. Is it leaving the fleet as hinted some time ago?

OO-SSC is in winter storage as it was last year.

I thought Airbus planned to take over the plane to measure the state of wear of the structure and fuselage after 26 years service?

I heard the same thing some time ago.
However, I wouldn't consider it improbable or even impossible for them to perform that analysis on site in Bangor.

Bangor is only a technical stop. The end destination is ... Crestview, Florida ;)
