Subject to approval new route to Geneva starting 4 February 2019 with new business airline La Nova. Flights from Marseille via GVA will be available too. Bookings from 1 September 2018. Probably with ATR 72 with only 36 seats.

Hm, looks very nice! I particularly like the rearward-facing seats just behind the cockpit.

Bookings as from 01 Sept 2018. First flight 04 Febr 2019. That's five months in between, thus enough time for them to get a place on the market (unless there is no market for their tariffs).

Lots of experience:

https://www.linkedin.com/in/yamina-bouhadra-0b1476157/

However...

"...flylanova is a flight broker and as such arranges carriage by air on behalf of its customers by chartering aircraft from third-party aircraft operators as agent of its customers. flylanova only acts as an intermediary, does not itself operate aircraft and is not a contracting or an indirect carrier..."

"...flylanova est un courtier du transport aérien et en tant que tel organise des prestations de transport aérien pour le compte de ses clients en affrétant des aéronefs à des tierces parties « opérateurs » en qualité d’agent de ses clients. flylanova n’opère pas d’avion et n’assure pas de prestation de transport, directement ou indirectement..."

Luckily they have an excellent solution for the funding of their operations: a subscriptions program:

edit: Sarcasm off. No: I do not regard their subscriptions program an excellent solution... At the contrary: such will only work with established airlines, not with startup intermediate companies.

VLM could not make that route work, nor could Chalair..

Nor could Take Air (to Zurich) with their subscription formula. Had also considerable experience/ background through the 'Aviation Factory', and could not get a substantially smaller aircraft filled.

The flylanova project seems to be delayed and still under development. Start date for Antwerp operation now showing as beginning of summer season 2019. It also seems they have a bigger interest in Antwerp since VLM stopped the operations. I wonder if they are one of the bidders for some parts of VLM.

Their intended network from Antwerp now showing London, Hamburg, Zurich, Geneva, Sion, Nice and Chambéry.

Yes, and operating under the brandname 'FlyVLM-La Nova'. 8-)

For a virtual airline, the sky is the limit indeed.

When the information on their website is still correct, they don't own or lease aircraft: "... flylanova is a flight broker and as such arranges carriage by air on behalf of its customers by chartering aircraft from third-party aircraft operators as agent of its customers. flylanova only acts as an intermediary, does not itself operate aircraft and is not a contracting or an indirect carrier..."

Let's hope that Antwerp Airport has learned something from the PowdAir scam. Better no "new airline", than another failure before take off. Let them announce first who is going to be the operating airline.

Above all, let them find someone to operate ANR-LCY - a prime reason of existence for the airport exactly at a time when that is under attack. The customer base of bankers and diamond traders must be quickly dwindling.

And now we hear the airport grounds will house a new depot for trams and/or buses: https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2018/10/03 ... antwerpen/ (in Dutch) I wonder where exactly that is going to be? And if there will be tramcars, there will need to be rails too. Finally a tram service to the airport again, like in the old days?

From the 19th minute a debate about the closure of Antwerp Airport for the elections of the 14th of October.
(DUTCH)

Ps: It's sad/funny to see that the left parties don't know what they are talking about... they only dream about planting trees :p

"Again flights to London City"

From early 2019 you can fly again from ANR to LCY. Due to the recent bankruptcy of VLM Airlines, the route was stopped after 25 years.

It is not yet clear which airline will operate the route. "I hope to announce this before mid-December", says Marcel Buelens, CEO of Antwerp Airport. "And I think there are still a few business destinations to come."

Furthermore the rise in passenger numbers are discussed.

Sad indeed, too sad to be funny. Especially as I understand there are plans to replace the last patch of trees on the airport grounds with a depot/parking/facility for buses of De Lijn.
