Total madness, those guys. Total ignorance of the plain fact that the company is in deep trouble. I have posted their 2017 figures this morning, but I was wrong there: those were the 2016 figures (they were 10 months too late, hence my mistake in dates). I will post their 2017 figures right now, and they are far worse then 2016. "Virtually bankrupt" is the right description.
So if I understand well the employees are screwed so tell me a good reason not to strike after years of frustration.
Why are you always defending the big money can you try for once to understand the other part or is the leading management always right!
I never defend "the big money". I only defend stranded passengers and the travel & tourism trade, all loosing money because of a strike.

And you need a good reason not to go on strike at Aviapartner? OK, here is one: "to avoid bankruptcy".

Everyone has a right to strike, BUT they need to respect the rules surrounding it. This strike is illegal. Point final

Then you eventually possibly perhaps can go on strike to obtain payment. But that 250 € has been paid before they went on strike. Payment was far too late indeed. But maybe their bank refused them to go even further in the red?

But that's not responsibility of the employees.
And they received less than agreed also....

The management knew they were not going to pay the amount they did. They waited a few weeks after the deadline to finally pay up. And probably they waited till this moment because they where hoping the workers would just take it in their stride and continue being squeezed like a lemon.

IF the numbers given before are correct, than why do they keep it alive? It's not a charity is it?

The numbers are correct indeed. But they were the 2016 ones. I will post the 2017 figures in a few minutes. Fasten your seatbelts.

About "mismanagement" at Aviapartner: I wonder if you have seen their annual account 2017. That is not "mismanagement": that is "survival modus". They were saved by the payout by the insurance company of their 22/03/2016 damage (4,5m). If not, I doubt they would still exist. Just three figures:
reported losses 20.699.488 €
own assetts: negative 11.838.189 €
own funds: 4.952.269 € (own funds = invested by the shareholders).

What are the options ,shortterm, for the airlines & Brussels airport if Airpartner would go bankrupt? Swissport/possible other handlers could possibly not take over all airlines at short notice..

The days just before the autumn holidays is a very busy period at Brussels Airport.

The biggest complaint signalled by the trade unions is a lack of staffing. Probably Aviapartner didn't plan a sufficient number of extra workers and equipment to properly handle the higher workload. To add insult to injury, it looks like in september Aviapartner didn't fully pay a premium they owed to their staff.

It's not surprising if staff decide to go on strike right now.

Turnover 2017: 61.709.090
Operational loss 2017: 2.775.916 (-)
Final loss of 2017 (verlies boekjaar): 3.635.453 (-)
Cumulated loss (overgedragen verlies): 24.334.941 (-)
Own assets (eigen vermogen): minus 15.473.643 (-)
Capital (geplaatst kapitaal): 4.952.268
Total debts: 49.049.861
Debts one year max.: 26.296.218

I'm no accountant, revisor or lawyer, so I don't translate that. But Google.translate will tell you that it doesn't look good for them.

I think we also put the fault on Brussels Airport they have to see this coming...
They are aware of the fragile situation of Avipartner and they are responsible for the good working of the airport.
Imagine they are bankrupt what would be the consequences....!!!

I could kindly answer this comments with my most latest post :) please check it on my postings.
Everyone does have the right to strike, but at what cost?? Bankruptcy of your own company? Well done, you just lost your Wage.

Does anyone know about what happened with 67 poor souls from the Polish LOT Airlines?
They got sacked.

There is really no justification not to follow the rules regarding strikes. Wildcat strikers should be prosecuted.

there is no monopoly, every few years Brussels airport company lets other company’s bid for a certain task at the airport. Off course these contracts go to the lowest bidder. “You pay peanuts, you get monkeys”
