Future long haul destinations Brussels Airport

Post by Atlantis »

Léon Verhallen gave an interview with Luchtvaartnieuws Magazine.

Primera Air is for Brussels Airport the new segment which was not available yet: LC long haul.
It is a message to UA and SN who are not expanding further at BRU. UA is expanding at AMS and other European airports, but not at BRU while they had the intention to open an evening NY flight.
But if not they, others will fill this gap. It is very clear that Primera Air will receive carte blanche.

Further more on the wish list. Destinations which we know already and most likely, Singapore by Singapore Airlines will be the next new one. It's only a matter of time and probably of new type aircraft they are receiving.

Seoul, Taipei, other Chinese destinations, Johannesburg, Los Angeles, San Fransisco and San Paulo are all very high on the list.

BRU should encourage JL to come with their new LCC subsidiary and to 5th freedom to GRU.
This should work very well.

Some Latin American destinations would also be interesting: MEXICO City, BOGOTA, SANTIAGO de CHILE, PANAMA...
Latin America has an imortant Middle Class now; this people want to travel.
Europe is by far the dream destination (after they have visited Miami, NY, etc.

More destinations in India would be also welcome; On AI we can't rely as it will take too long and also LH will never approve this as they work close with them.
SN will probably deploy more in Africa.
The only one who I see deploying more from India is Indigo Air. As next year the first LC long haul will start, they are maybe also more willing and can connect some two extra Indian destinations.

I remember to have read a few months ago that CRL was mentioned as a future A330 detination of IndiGo.

Well, there is nothing wrong with dreaming I'd say ;)

I honestly don't see what BRU would have to offer to those airlines to start a route. In due time no connecting options anymore and a rather limited O&D market. Some government traffic maybe, but only to select destinations...

As SN/LH decided to axe Mumbai from the SN network, there is no connection anymore from BRU with India.
This makes free space for a new carrier on this route. Let's hope that Indigo or an other one can fill this gap

Indigo might be interested now to fly to BRU instead of CRL..(eventually!)

I talked to Frédéric Paepe, the SN Director of Flight Operations this afternoon. LH didn't decide anything. SN took the decision independently: the route has never been profitable.

Another interview.
Lim Ching Kiat, managing director of air hub development at Changi Airport Group, tells Routesonline about the airport's network hopes. 17 September 2018
"CAG is keen to explore direct links to Brussels, Madrid, Oslo, and Vienna – all of which have strong origin-destination demand with Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia and Southwest Pacific regions."

Bamboo Airways launches to Europe, to Prague and Munich from Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi...

Maybe soon more in Europe?
