Scanner Legend Yupiteru MVT-7000 has new life !

Post by radiostationx »

You may recall the MVT-7100..hugely popular but there was an earlier (and some would say.. better) model, the MVT-7000.

Great article!
My 7000 has been operating 24/7 for many years now; hope it will continue for many years to come...

Thanks so much DIBO,
Glad you are still getting good service from your Yupi mvt-7000, its 28 years or so since it was manufactured so if it has been chugging away scanning the airband all this time ..its been epic value for money ! 8-)
Silly question...I wager you wouldnt swap for a shiny new ubc-125xlt would you ?

I have added a little more repair detail today, glad you enjoyed the read.

I've seen your excellent Yup MVT7000 write ups and was always fascinated with what was inside them.
I purchased a spare memory battery for mine as a result of reading your posts but was quite afraid to start pulling her apart to just do it as a routine maintenance thing.

She's been on the shelf for a few weeks now as I'd bought some Signal R series old receivers recently and today I got her out put in some new batteries and fired her up.
I was greeted with the usual white noise but when I looked at the screen it was blank.
As I know the routine for airband frequency programming I entered my local tower.
She works....but no display.

Obviously the battery needs now to be changed as it's lost all my frequencies but is the blank screen related to this too ?

I love this radio and would like to get it back to normal if possible.
It's in excellent and clean condition and not been abused or dropped.

Any advice most welcome if you pick this post up

Many thanks

Andrew

Hi...i got the same repaired from the technician. It worked for a while still but those caps are ready at anytime leak and gain resistance or short. He didn't think about stocking 2 each of every value in that scanner.
