2018 World Cup flights

Post by pijaleu »

Don't know if allready a topic exists, but just wondering what planes are being used for transporting the soccer teams to their games?
And what about supporters?

I know SN uses several A320s and an A330 for fans.
Anyone with info about the Belgian or other team / fans?

Thanks,
Pijaleu

Yesterday, fans and families were flown from Brussels to Rostov na Donu on an A330. There were still 40 free seats. The cost was 700€ return.

For the game against England, Brussels Airlines operated at least 4 aircraft to Kaliningrad:

A320 Trident and A330 and staying there to pick up supporters after the game.

A320 Magritte up and down on matchday, up and down again during the night.

For the game against Japan, Brussels AIrlines operated one Airbus A330 (possibly more)

To transport the teams, the organisation is chartering Russian carriers.

The two SN flights from Brussels to Kazan (and return), an A330 and an A320, were sold out in 20 minutes, even though the cost was €699. SN cannot put additional flights in place because the whole fleet is booked for summer vacations.

Many fans who have a ticket to the stadium could not find a flight to reach Kazan. Turkish Airlines offers (regular) flights via Istanbul at €1446 return...

Fake news on RTL news today.. fans with ticket but no flight to Kazan ... of course they want direct flight from Brussels and come back same day ... THY coming back on Sunday already possible for Eur 800 ... and hotel rooms abundant at correct prices... But hey it made nice dramatic television ...

If they make it to the semifinal, they will play on my birthday. Would be very, very tempting to go there ;-)

Best regards,
Ivan

My Sunday July 15th flight from Manchester to Brussels with Brussels Airlines was cancelled.
I wonder if the intended aircraft will be off operating World Cup flights instead...

In fact, it's an A330-300 and an A319.

The Aviation Factory was planning a charter flight, but wasn't able to operate due to Kazan airport restrictions.

Brussels Airlines is adding an additional A330, the €699 tickets are sold out. Now tickets for €999 (same price of The Aviation Factory).

Strange that only 500 fans could make it to Kazan, while 20,000 Brazilian fans were in the stadium...

An ERJ135 charter from LGG to LED on 10 July.

But TUI cancels one of the two B738 flights chartered through The Aviation Factory: not enough tickets available for the game. Another Aviation Factory flight with Brussels Airlines remains scheduled.

The flight is not announced on the BRU website: the Red Devils will not go to the regular exit in the arrivals hall, thus don't come to the airport to celebrate.

The last fan flight SN1166 from LED will arrive Sunday morning at 01:45 (A330-300 OO-SFN)
