It shouldn't be such big deal to extend the subway to BRU .. Nothing in the cards yet ? So much awaited and nobody is pushing this bright idea to the table ?

No chance: it's Belgium.....
STIB-MIVB = Brussels regio
DE LIJN = Flemish regio
BRU : in Flemish regio....

Some exceptions ... from the past STIB-MIVB 39-44... but from the past long before 1968

MIVB/STIB operates to Vilvoorde today. Just like De Lijn (and also TEC) operate to Brussels today. While we are a complicated country indeed, there's no need to exaggerate. I even thought MIVB/STIB operates buses to the airport terminal currently? And ISTR there are talks about extending their tram line to the NATO/OTAN to the airport, too.

yes, MIVB-STIB operates a bus line from Schuman to the airport which also hails at NATO. When you leave the airport their station is on your left, then you have the bus to Antwerp, then De Lijn and then the transfers to the hotels.
I think building an underground even though appealing is financially not very realistic given the presence of a nice railway station and the multiple connections it offers.

With the train connections and bus services (both not terrible, but definitely room for improvement on early morning and late evening and even weekend services) and planned tram(bus) lines (which already proves to be difficult enough) I don't think it would be money well invested to extent metro to BRU. It's an extremely time consuming and expensive investment to extent a metro network and I'm not sure it would add that much more value besides the other commodities that BRU has or are planned.
Same discussion has been ongoing for many years in Amsterdam btw, and there most of the metro network outside the center is even at ground level or above.

Btw, when I was in Washington some time ago, airport staff was joking about the time it's taking to extend the metro from the city to IAD. After many many years of construction on the viaduct type of infrastructure the basics are there and they just need to add the latest km's of tracks, finish some stations, etc but when you tell them "ah it looks almost finished no?" - the common reply is in the style of "haha yeah give it 5 years or so". Yes that airport is much farther from the city than BRU, but it was quite amusing to hear such irony and sarcasm on such a major infrastructure project in the capital of the US. Although I must say the bus/metro connection for those remaining KMs was relatively smooth (although the wifi in the bus didn't work despite all the advertisement and attempts by passengers xp), but it's still time consuming and annoying on an already long journey.

There are renovations going on in the building adjacent to the B.House. Does anyone know what is going on there? And what will be the new purpose of this building?

Maybe SN is renovating the building to establish the new long haul center of excellence? :ugeek:

Less than 15 minutes queue at immigration this morning, for children less than 12 years you have to take the police line iso the automatic gate readers (height restriction).

I picked up an unconfirmed rumour that Lufthansa Technik may reduce or end some of their maintenance activities at BRU. They would abandon the former TEAMCO hangar, which would then be taken over by neighbouring DHL. The hangar would no longer be used for aircraft maintenance, but rather for container storage.

I'm wondering what the impact of this will be on the operations of HiFly.

31/07/2018 Additional security measures have been installed at the entrance of the drop-off zone. These will probably also help to enforce the max 10 minutes. Will soon be activated.

30/07/2018 New roof trusses for the renovation of the Skyhall are being assembled in front of Swissport Building 2. During the night they are being transported via the taxiways to the Skyhall, where they are picked up by a crane and installed.

It's ridiculous. The most beautiful part of the airport and passengers will not see it...

In the meantime, the amateurism outside continues: at the drop of area the tent has returned! Also numerous (dirty) concrete blocks can be seen at the "bus station" to guide the passengers. You should see it to believe it.

Where do you read in this article that that it will used has event hall!!!

Please you can be critical about the airport I'm myself but try to stay honest or you point of view will worth nothing anymore on this forum.
