When you fly full time , you usually reach between 2500 and 3000 netto at brussels airlines (thank to the per diem), I do not work for Lufthansa and I don't know their salary, but if they earn the double as you say (meaning they earn between 5000 and 6000€ a month) then indeed I would prefer their work condition, but I'm don't think this is the case. I have some ex colleagues from Germania working now for Lufthansa, and it's not all pink their.Poiu wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 18:57Lufty mainline salaries are about double of what you earn, and they work less days a month.crew1990 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 17:58
Of course there would be complain, we have some good working condition at Brussels Airlines, not perfect, it can always be better of coure but I think most of us are very happy with our condition. The proof is that strike by SN employee is quite rare. While in Lufti you almost have a strike once a year minimum. I really don't believe than their working condition a better.
Just a few example that I already saw, in Tel Aviv, we have a full breakfast before departing, KLM and Air France too, while Swiss and Lufthansa crew nothing.
In Europe sector if we fly a mission (Consecutive days with layover at outstation), in SN we can't have more than 3 days in a row while the crew from Lufthansa can fly a full week without coming back home.
Still complain about a breakfast and a couple of nights away from home, which attract extra salary btw?
If you give a bar of gold to some people they will complain it’s too heavy...

Well, then great for him... what can I say
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Let's make the difference between cockpit and cabin crew maybe, because I don't think both of you are talking about the same thing here...

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
The difference is probably close to 50% then, far from double.Poiu wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 19:11A friend of mine is a long haul skipper, his gross salary is just under 20.000€/month.crew1990 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 19:04

Ok point taken, but still people would be stupid to complain no, if you are paid 50% more one day to another?DeltaWiskey wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 19:28The difference is probably close to 50% then, far from double.Poiu wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 19:11A friend of mine is a long haul skipper, his gross salary is just under 20.000€/month.crew1990 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 19:04

Well the difference between 3000€ monthly and 4500€ monthly for a cabin crew member is quite big wouldn’t you say? I think I can live with a “no breakfast” stay then :/DeltaWiskey wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 19:28The difference is probably close to 50% then, far from double.Poiu wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 19:11A friend of mine is a long haul skipper, his gross salary is just under 20.000€/month.crew1990 wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 19:04

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
I was talking long haul captain salary's, not cabin crew members. You also can't compare gross to net salaries, since it depends to much on one's personal situation. 50% more gross doesn't mean 50% more net, I am sure you know that as well. Per diems are per definition without taxes, and they are also not 50% higher between LH and SN.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Some of the per diems is money you need to eat because you are in an expensive place abroad, it is not salary!DeltaWiskey wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 20:03l. Per diems are per definition without taxes, and they are also not 50% higher between LH and SN.
Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
If you don't benefit from per diems on most foreign trips (=having money after deducting your expenses on the trip itself), you really have some expensive taste.Poiu wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 20:24Some of the per diems is money you need to eat because you are in an expensive place abroad, it is not salary!DeltaWiskey wrote: ↑15 Apr 2018, 20:03l. Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
If I can just add something Poiu, you said that at Lufthansa, they work less day a month. What you say is right but let me just explain the reason.
Flight crew and cabin are limited to a certain number of "block hour". You can fly a maximum of 900h per year, and 100h per month (28days).
In the case of Brussels Airlines we don't really have long flight like Lufthansa have, If a crew member fly to Los Angeles, then Tokyo, then Buenos Aires and Mexico, with those 4 flights he is already reaching the limit.
At Brussels Airlines our longest flight is the Mumbai, and it's not even 10 hours. So of course we have more flights per month. But this is due to our network and operation.

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
1990,lets stay on topic, this is not about comparing LH with SN, it was just to illustrate that people are, rightfully, worried by an integration into EW as, in the long term, it will lead to worse labour conditions.

OO-SNM (Airbus A320, msn 2003, ex OE-IFV/D-ABNE) is on the Belgian register since today (17/04). http://www.mobilit.fgov.be:7081/bcaa/ai ... search.jsf
It is an ex (EW opby) AB aircraft leased from Arctic Aviation.

VRT interviewed the new CEO of SN
Main points:
- not planning to take away planes from BRU, but adding more instead
- No decision about name change this year
- Will stay a Belgian brand (she adds: employees are belgian, so it’s belgian anyway... hope that’s not the only belgian touch...)

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Literally she said: "with the pan-European aspirations, is Brussels Airlines the right brand?"
To me it is very clear: they will ditch the Brussels Airlines brand for Eurowings. They just don't have the balls to say it now. Really sad.
Full interview: https://www.vrt.be/vrtnws/nl/2018/04/17 ... t-voor-he/
Btw, just have a look at the Lufthansa Group website, they will make it very clear:
They have a section "Network Airlines" with LH, LX and OS.
And they have a section "Point-to-point Airlines" with EW and SN, totally ignoring the fact that SN today is a network airline...
https://www.lufthansagroup.com/en/company.html
They will not treat SN like they treat LX or OS. They're here for the kill.

Hi,
Everybody knows and expect thé ditching by now,
Let's face thé facts : SN is just an idea now, Luftie is in charge they said thé money and thé belgians let it go, sold it, nobody cared nor thé government nor thé shareholders , so stop wheeping about it
We got fleet expansions , A320-330-340 ,... Expect more because of EW expansions and the lower contracts,...
No more icons and getting rid of thé SSJ are thé next moves probably, some AB Dash 8 or An Embraer for BMA , of a move to ARN can be expected no ?
We Will see

Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018
Can't really blame LH for all this... its the people who agreed to this who are 100% to blame... if they absolutely wanted to sell keeping Brussels Airlines should have been part of the deal but they were either naive or stupid or both... I would think KLM isn't too unhappy with all this...

As said before, belgianwings could be the best compromise, by linking the belgian identity together with the -wings platform/concept!
