I asked AB on Tuesday :
"Not this week but in a few days"

Btw...
OO-ABA have been towed to H40 or H41 this morning...

Hi everyone :) I'm new here :)
It seems that Air Belgium's OO-ABA is doing another charter tonight (customer unknown at this point). It will fly first to Milan Malpensa (MXP) and then further on to Havana Cuba (HAV). No further details known yet.

According to the Spotters' forum, the flight will be operated by OO-ABB, leaving BRU to MXP at 21:15 tonight.

Schedule of tomorrow's flight (and the return on the next day):

Code: Select all

BV1618 MXP-HAV 16:25 - 22:15 A343
BV1619 HAV-MXP 01:20 - 17:20 A343
This supposes that two crews are available to operate the flights, since there is no rest period in HAV.

It never ceases to amaze me how "managers" hope to run yield management from day 1 on routes without feeding and with heavy competition, only to price themselves out of the market. So much for being a "disruptor".

Scarce return tickets at 450 EUR return, but mostly at over 500 EUR return
In the meanwhile CX is at 570 EUR return from BRU while BA is below 500 EUR via LHR. AB can't promote themselves like this.

A word of advice: start selling at max. 299 EUR return in Y, 999 EUR return in C.
Empty seats don't cover any costs and you can't advertise yourself.
If I were the CEO, I would launch the first flights with 199 EUR fares. Gets people talking and checking AB before other options, while some bills get paid.

Once you fill the airplane, start jacking fares up gradually.

If they continue like this, they won't last. It looks like they don't know what they're doing.
I hoped for them to succeed but like this they don't stand a chance.

I guess they mainly target Chinese (tourists) and they consider Europeans/Belgians flying the other way only an extra?

If the Chinese have almost 50% of the shares, it seems logical to me that the major part of the seats will already be filled with Chinese tourists who booked with this Chinese tour-operator.

Just a question : could it be that the crew that will fly the plane back to Milan was sent to Havana yesterday or today with another airline ? (and benefiting fom a day's rest before flying the plane back to MXP).
The inbound crew is underway to Havana, and will immediately fly back the aircraft.

I don't expect there to be a stampede of willing business class passengers for these flights.

If you configure an aircraft for business class to occupy 1/3rd of the cabin, you must work on generating O&D.
Also, the first flights tend to fly empty.
So ok, the main customers are from China. So the first outbound flight to HKG will fly empty to pick them up, burning over 5% of the company's equity in one go?

You should start an airline. You seems to know the job. "Air Flanker", and let's see which one between you and N.T knows better how to rule an airline ;) I know on which one i would bet...

Furthermore, the CX's prices are not around 570. The average price is higher. For BA, what a joke. Randomly, i got 885€ (Tue 10/07 - Sun 15/07). I request a screen for a price below 500...
