I didn't knew Internet Explorer was supported? Does Microsnot still make new versions of it?

Air Belgium works fine with Firefox, Chrome and Safari though.

Clear proof of "ryanitis": you have worked too long for Ryanair so you are unable to accept the basic principle of consumer legislation: one may not mislead "the average consumer" (the Belgian law indeed says "gemiddelde consument / consommateur moyen"). And that's what I wrote: "average consumers" have a far less aviation knowledge then Aviation24.be members. "Brussels South Airport" is misleading. "Brussels South Charleroi Airport" is correct. See down below.

Regarding the Belgian state, investing money into Air Belgium: actually I was expecting some support from you there, given your campaign here towards the illegal state aid (through reduction of social security costs) that was given to Brussels Airlines, Jetarifly/TUI fly and Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium...

Anyway, on topic: I never opposed them or I never wrote they would never start (contrary to Powdair, where I was the only one here who wrote it was a scam). But yes, it looks strange to me what they're doing now: too little time between bookings-open and first flight - unlogic flight schedule (2 aircraft but no outgoing flights on days 5-6) - no use of the financial incentive that Brussels Airport offers - use of an airport that is difficult to reach compared to BRU.

I suffer far less from ryanitis then you suffer from the opposite. Amavro’s post above yours points it out perfectly. As a final thought, none of my friends and family are into aviation and have flown from both BRU and CRL .... and amazingly have never managed to end up at the wrong airport?! I know ... pretty surprising right? :) Don’t try and justify your hidden agenda

Secondly, can we drop the bloody flag discussion? Have they ever stated it was the Belgian flag? For all we know, they just wanted to use the colors and to be honest, it’s one of the most striking liveries that have graced the Belgian skies in a long time (bar the SN special liveries then)

Good that Bralo/Passenger promissed to stop the issue of the flag.

Indeed best livery seen in years.

Let us give this project a fair chance. What can be against having flights, by a Belgian airline to China, USA, Latam, etc.

The project looks sound and very professional.

Has it been boycotted by authorities (AOC) ? I think yes. But finally the Kafka's have lost. AB wins.

Good Luck to AB . Make us proud !! and F... the arrogant Germans of LH

I think no. If the authorities wanted to boycot Air Belgium, they would still be waiting for their AOC. The BCAA can always find a reason to ground an airline or revoke an AOC, even for TUI fly, Brussels Airlines, etc. If they have a different interpretation of the law, their interpretation becomes the law.
I think Air Belgium (and Niki Terzakis) just underestimated the work to get an AOC from 0.

I hope they have a successful launch.

It has been said repeatedly that 100% Belgian doesn't exist anymore - I am sure even Manneken Pis has Chinese shareholders these days

Actually I don't care where the shareholders comes from, as long as employee based in Belgium are under a Belgian contract and paying their taxes in Belgium. But saying Air Belgium is the only "Belgian" airline is to me very unfair.

They will pay their taxes in the same way as employees of SN, TUI...
Which doesn’t necessarily mean Belgium for employees living abroad, they will have to comply with what is written in the double taxation agreements.

It will be not only Belgian, but it will be the most Belgian passenger airline that will exist.

I didn't post anything about that flag issue. I just watched it passing by.

Yes, they have been boycotted.
If you mean that "the Kafka's" = the Belgian CAA, then the Kafka's have won. They have managed to keep the circus ongoing for more then two years.

Is Air Belgium 'happy' with the reservations? Is it going fast or slow?

One thing is sure is that BCSA will extend the runway because Air Belgium and that is very positive.
Because without them it could take much more time.

BSCA has already also invested in raising the level of Rescue and Fire Fighting services to cope with larger aircraft.

In the current AIP it is still Code 7 but by Notam it is Code 9 since 01APR.

RESCUE AND FIRE FIGHTING CATEGORY UPGRADED TO CAT9.

CREATED: 01 APR 01:20 2018

The Aerodrome Category for Rescue and Fire Fighting is determined by the overall length and fuselage width of the most demanding aircraft.
See table below.

Because of the B738 being 0.50 m longer than the upper limit of Code 6, EBCI was code 7 and hence able to cope with all the single aisle aircraft using the airport.
Now with the A343 it needs to beef up the ARFF to Code 9.

Of course the airport may have had already more than the basic minimum required in terms of number of RFF vehicles (2 for Code 7, min 3 for Code 9) but one of our reporters can find that out.

Couldn't find where 51B and 80B are though. Probably at angle with 51 and 80 respectively.

Parking the big babies there will make taxiing interesting when some blue/yellows are parked on the southern part of P11-12-13 (nose-in-grass).
