Re: Brussels Airlines in 2018

Post by sn26567 »

Effective today, the flights to FIH are reduced from 7 to 4 per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday). Today's flight is cancelled and passengers booked on cancelled flights are automatically rebooked on the next day's flight.

The decision of the CAA of RDC to reduce the number of flights from 7 to 4 had been suspended until SN would submit a schedule approved by the CAA. This is thus done now.

Perhaps with three rotations less a week to FIH, SN could use the aircraft to fly to Libreville.
With only 4 flights a week, maybe SN could 'borrow' a higher capacity plane from mother Lufty, such as a B747-8...Hence offering similar total capacity as before for pax and cargo.

Only 3 of the 7 flights were non-stop. They can already gain some capacity by making them all non-stop and re-arrange their schedules for the other destinations (Douala and Luanda).

I think they will do all the flights to FIH non stop instead of Douala and Luanda...
They will approximately have the same amount of seats.

And all the flights to Luanda or via Douala or Yaounde .
Sometimes like that

Makes sense to drop the pairing of FIH and start paring the other cities that used to be paired with FIH.
Bummer is the drop in frequency which is still a really negative point for business travellers.
Maybe they should fly BRU-DUS-FIH 3 days per week :-)

Wonder about this news today of trying to lure SQ back to BRU. They sure have metal that could make a difference from over 10 years ago. However there's also more competition with BKK, HKG and many other Asian destinations covered via AUH, DOH and DXB.

Still SEL and SIN are two gaps in Asia as far as Star Alliance and BRU are concerned. It would be nice to see SQ and OZ metal back in town!

But you have a visa problem....And I don't think they will open a new destination.
So it's easier for the moment to work with the existing destinations.
I'm sure Brussels Airlines hopes to reinstall the daily flights fast.

And I think it's a good idea to start 2 flights from Frankfurt a bit like in Luanda .
To avoid the political games, and I'm sure there is a part that you can take from AF with flights to Frankfurt that Brussels can't offer.
Hasta la victoria siempre.

I'm not sure that boat would be approved by the 'Longhaul Centre of Excellence' :?

I think the VIP express would be a better option!

Thus they follow the suggestion of Foreign Minister Reynders? But I am told by the former Belgian consul in Kinshasa that the boat link between Brazza and Kinshasa is no longer what it used to be. And we saw some pics earlier in this thread. I wonder what's the idea of flying to Brazza...

In fact...two out of three SN'flights this week on Luanda have been canceled ... that's a lot. No reorganization of flights following the Kinshasa problem? I know that they replaced Brazzaville by Kinshasa but Brazza is canceled too! :-(

I wonder if it couldn't be an good idea to open Brazaville in alternance with FIH, it would give more flexibility to SN in case of trouble in RDC.

What about this scheduled:

Monday: BRU-FIH-BRU
Tuesday: BRU-LAD-BZV-BRU
Wednesday: BRU-FIH-BRU
Thursday: BRU-FIH-BRU
Friday: BRU-LAD-BZV-BRU
Saturday: BRU-FIH-BRU
Sunday: BRU-LAD-BZV-BRU

Oh, this is my 1000th post :P

I know perfectly - just read the exchanges on this site - that the issue of long-haul flights from SN is at least touchy! Very touchy. But there is official schedule and the reality. Last flight 1359 spotted by Flightradar was the 13th of February and the next on the 20th. In fact the one of tomorrow is canceled !
So where is the problem : fleet ? Brazzaville ?

The problem is that the plane is empty because they just stop in Brazzaville to change the crew also
I think that the crew is tired....it's already a long flight Bru-Lad-Fih but now they have to cross the river on top of it.

On the Bru-Lad -Fih flight the biggest part was going to Kinshasa the average for Luanda is around 70 passengers.

Yeah but no worry, we don't take the boat, when we have to transfer between Kinshasa and Brazaville we have a private jet waiting for us 8-)

Or a dornier 228 .... straight to the city airport iso FIH then.

Operating crew bases in Africa is 'challenging' even on a daily basis, as our new management is discovering at warp speed these days, much to their eye popping surprise. ;)
