The World's Oddest Air Routes

Post by quixoticguide »

A few years ago I found an article in The New York times about 'The World's Oddest Air Routes'.

What's the oddest air route in your opinion?

Westray to Papa Westray in Scotland: 90 seconds under normal conditions, 60 seconds by favourable winds.

FNJ to KWI with TU204 (JS 161) was also pretty odd but canceled since Oct 2016.

Wasn't there a Brazzaville-Kinshasa service at one time? Just a hop across the river.

Indeed. I think that Sabena once operated that route as an add-on to its FIH route.

Air Cote d'Ivoire and ASKY still operated this route today, in the past ET also operated this route with 788

VIE-BTS, sadly no longer available.

Also the kind of routings we avgeeks can create to get from A to B will certainly look odd to a vast majority

Guilty !
I once booked FLL-CLT-MIA-SJU as a single ticket (and actually cheaper than the same MIA-SJU flight). The look of the check-in agent at FLL was priceless
