What is the normal pattern after you graduate?
I once heard the first job is to work Brussels Info, the service that handles non-controlled airspace. And that must be one heck of a job: very silent on weekdays - mostly the occasional helicopter pipeline control - but on sunny weekend days all hell can break loose with private pilots, not always very current on R/T. I remember the frequency going dead silent for several minutes after one idiot obviously drove the poor FIS operator into tears, or worse. Most of the time they do an excellent job, though, warning pilots if they get too close to controlled airspace, or to one another, announcing where paradrop is active, activating flight plans, negotiating entry to controlled airspace at request, and what not.

What is the normal pattern after you graduate ? In what position do you go ?
Delivery -> Ground -> Tower -> Departure -> En route -> Approach ?
After the training, you go in one of the tower (OST, ANR, BRU, CRL or BRU) and you are trained for all positions (DEL, GND, TWR and APP(for LGG, OST and CRL). After some years in the tower you can apply to go to CANAC (BRU APP or ACC).

This is false ;) ATCO's will never work at Brussels Info. Specific poeple with a different training, which is way shorter, are working there.

Have they picked up anybody on the experienced ATCO bid that they have had for the last 6 months on and off? It was a temporary offer for 3 years. I'm just curious of how much interest Belgocontrol got? They had to advertise a couple of times, so i'm guessing they didn't find much for suitable candidates. I know I applied every single time but well I don't hold a valid European license so I was an easy disqualification even though I meet all the other criterias'. It would be nice if everybody's license was valid throughout the world and purely make the selection based on the other requirements. I have no doubt that the exchange of experience could benefit all ANSP's in the long run.

They selected less than 1% of the candidates :roll:
Probably foreign controllers aren't good enough, or would they be too good? :lol:

No. Actually 3 latvians (2 at APP, 1 at ACC) + 4 belgians (used to work abroad or no longer active as controller at Belgocontrol, the 4 of them for ACC)
Never heard of the french guy in Charleroi ! :(

I wonder how many people passed FEAST 1. Have FEAST 2 soon as well! Good luck.

From my previous experience with Eurocontrol, about 60% of the people failed to pass FEAST 1.
From what I've heard, the enrolment number's about 500 this year, so let's say there's about 200 people left? x)

Also, best of luck, are you in the same group as me? (13th December?)
