That's great news! Lets hope one of the flights gets turned into an A380 route soon!

I think that the first victim might be TG, followed by the SN BOM flights..
can the market sustain those flights plus EY, and Qatar?

I didn't know our bilateral agreement allowed another flight...

Re: Emirates doubles its presence in Belgium
If SN keeps growing as transfer airline the market can easily sustain those flights (just look at KL at AMS with a similar O&D market and dozens of Asian destinations).
Luckily there isn't much to lose for BRU as it has so few Asian destinations already. The ME3 is definitly major competition for SN's Africa network, but more so for connections than traffic to BRU itself, so for that their presence at BRU doesn't really matter.

Re: Emirates doubles its presence in Belgium
Somehow I think Brussels Airlines and airlines from the East aren't surprised by EK's announcement of its additional service to Brussels. Traffic figures have been very good from the start. Stakeholders in the Belgian travel trade are very well aware of that. Their immense fleet of A380's and 777's has to fly somewhere
This could explain why Brussels Airlines is not flying daily to Mumbai, why there's no news on Delhi and why Thai's Bangkok service hasn't developed (yet) to a daily operation. Just my thoughts.
Who knows, some technical difficulties might delay the arrival of the A380 at Brussels Airport Although EK is a valuable customer to Brussels Airport just as any other airline.
On the other hand I agree that EK's evening service might initiate a second long-haul wave with transatlantic connections.

As a passenger point of view: great news. Emirates offers very smooth connections to markets where BRU wasn't covered in 1 stop, mainly Australia and New Zealand but also thinking about some more 'tropical' markets (Vietnam, India, Indonesia).
QR and EY fill certainly feel this move: let's hope that they can continue their BRU ops too (on a spotter's point of view).
