Regarding some Peruvian media, Brussels Airlines would be interested in opening a direct flight to Lima. Brussels Airlines has been talking earlier with LATAM and Avianca to make it possible.

There was a meeting in Lima between Brussels Airlines and the authorities of the international business and tourism and the minister of transport and communication.

Regarding Brussels Airlines, there are 20 000 yearly passenger travelling through AMS or CDG

I think KL flies daily on Lima via Guayaquil or Quito.And LX OS and LH do not fly to Peru.
Does AF flying there ? It could be a market from BRU considering the South american community already in Brussels.

I am sorry but I can't see SN starting to offer that route within the next couple of years. Reading a translation of the original articles, it seems that it is mainly BRU/BAC who are pushing for this route. Avianca and LATAM are possibilities as well.
SN's A332's don't have the legs to operate this route and the newer A333's won't have them either.

Would be nice if SN flew to South-America, and the lack of Star flights Europe-Lima needs to be filled.

Though for a European carrier to have Lima as a 1st destination in South-America doesn't seem logical on itself, neither does it fit in the strategy of LH-group to have SN as the only carrier to fly to a South-American destination. There are destinations in South-America with higher O&D and/or more convenient Star hubs that make more sense. Lima isn't a large Star hub and almost always involves significant backtracking. Panama, Bogota or Sao Paulo would have a better chance.

What I find interesting here is not really the fact that Brussels would be eventually involve in a project of route between BRU and LIM, but more the fact that Brussels Airlines is starting showing interest in South America.

There where first last week those code sharing agreement on the Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Bogota and Buenos Aires flight operated by Lufthansa and now this. I find it very encouraging. But as say Jetter, I would preferably see Brussels Airlines operate a less risky destination as Sao Paulo or Rio de Janeiro, or to a big star alliance hub like Bogota.

However for the business, it make more sense to fly a destination combined with another one 4 times a week than twice a week to a single destination. Of course if they can fill an aircraft to Lima 4 times a week direct both way, it would be great but I doubt that the demand is strong enough.

LH and LX are linking GIG and GRU.
LH fly BOG.
I would understand that they are looking to find their own niche even though it is more difficult. Maybe BOG LIM.
We are dreaming but it's good...and I find too it encouraging...but which one "new" aircraft ?

Indeed, but that is more viable as Quito and Guayaquil only have European service from AMS and MAD, while Lima has daily non-stop service from MAD and AMS and 5 weekly non-stop service from PAR. With those last 2 airports being so close it's hard to compete for business traffic with an extra stop and less frequency.

Or combine a 3 weekly UIO/LIM with a "short" flight to e.g. Dakar. To copy KL schedule hereabove, you add: BRU: 6.00 pm-DKR: 0.00 am-2.00 am-BRU: 8.00 am. This might be a second flight to DKR 3 weekly. Or the same for Ouaga, but here it opens a triangular ABJ flight (current SN255) to, say Lagos.
You can always call Air Atlantic if there is a hiccup somewhere.

Why Lima? Are there so many Peruvians in Belgium? If Brussels Airlines wants a new long haul destination for expats living in Belgium, let them take a look at Manila instead.
