Re: Airbus A320 and A320neo news

Post by sn26567 »

Airbus expects delays in deliveries of A320neo to be resolved by mid-2016 and the problems to be forgotten within months. Also, A320ceo production should now last until at least 2019 rather than the originally planned cut-off in late 2017, due to low fuel prices and faster growth among airlines.

Strange. They have 250 seats in their A310 fleet.
The 321 is much smaller...

Still no news about a first flight ? The 2 A319neo rolled out about 10 months ago. Unusual for Airbus.

IAG sealed a deal to take seven A321LRs for Aer Lingus (Ireland). The company is likely to take the jets via a lease deal involving a new order from a third party. Aircraft will replace four B757s.

Airbus says challenges remain with the A320neo ramp-up and delivery profile, which is expected to be back-loaded in 2017. Company delivered 68 A320neos to 17 customers in 2016.

Qatar Airways wants to convert 50 A320neo orders into A321neos, pending price negotiations, adding that the jets will almost certainly be powered by GE and CFM engines.

IndiGo (India) is seeking to convert some of its A320neos on order to A321neos. The carrier has about 400 A320neos on order and is adding about two planes a month to its fleet of 129.

IndiGo (India) asked its pilots to fly its A320neos at a lower altitude, 30,000 feet, and not the usual 36,000 feet, to reduce strain on engines even though it will mean higher fuel burn....

Lufthansa Technik and Diehl Aerosystems (Germany) present a “High-Density Solution” for the A320, saving up to 150 kilograms of weight and creating space for a minimum of six additional passenger seats — thus increasing the capacity of the A320 up to 186 seats.

Ooch! 180 seats is already cramped. I hate to think what 186 will look like!

Lufthansa is due to receive five A320neos in 2017, half the number it originally expected, due to delivery delays. Carrier was now expecting five this year, with the next one slated to arrive in summer 2017, which could affect Lufthansa’s capital expenditures plans for this year.

JetBlue (US) is postponing the delivery of 13 A320 family aircraft scheduled for 2019 and 2020: eight aircraft from 2019 to 2023 and five aircraft from 2020 to 2024.

It has also swapped its 2018 Airbus order of A321neos to 11 A321ceos, which have an earlier engine design. Unusual move: it is usually the opposite that happens.
