Nice series.

I didn't keep a precise accounting of my transatlantic flights, but I do remember the highlights.

The first one, in 1961: LUX-KEF-IDL (the old name of JFK) on a Loftleidir (the old name of Icelandair) propeller-driven DC-6B. And of course the return flight on the same itinerary with the same plane. That was a 24-hr adventure on each way!

The professional ones: mostly BRU-JFK, on Sabena 707s, 747s and 310s, PanAm 310s, TWA 747.
Also BRU-LGW-ATL (SN 747 in codeshare with BCal) and ATL-BRU (SN 707 and 747),
BRU-ANC (on the way to NRT) on SN 707 and DC10,
BRU-ORD (SN 333),
SFO-ZRH (SR MD11),
BRU-IAD and back (SN 332)
YMX-LHR (AC 747)
BRU-DTW (SN 747)
[SN being Sabena and SR Swissair; all in Y, C (mostly) and even F class].

The leisure flights after retirement: FRA-MIA and back (LH 388), MAD-LIM and back (IB 346)

and also before retirement: BRU-Oaxaca, CUN-BRU, BRU-Varadero and Puerto de Plata-BRU on Sobelair 767-300ER.

I'm sure I have forgotten a lot, due to my old age... ;)

BRU-ANC (on the way to NRT) on SN 707 and DC10,
Gorgeous list indeed!

But if I remember well, Tokyo Airport was still Haneda, at least during the 707 years. :)

(That trip in First was a real treat at the time! On Sabena of course!)

And, btw, I think it was more a Pacific Crossing (I mean the second leg of the trip anyway) than an Atlantic one. ;)

It was Narita: a 707 was used because all DC10s had been grounded after an accident.

Yes indeed: the upper floor of the 747 was a lounge with after dinner drinks and Cuban cigars! And a dedicated stewardess ;)

I guess you're referring to the Ermenonville (near Paris) crash on take-off of a Turkish Airlines DC-10 in the early seventies, due to a belly door not well locked. All DC-10s worldwide were grounded for several days (weeks?).

Narita was not open in the early seventies. This was probably after the O'Hare AA DC-10 crash in 1979.

My first trip across the Atlantic was in 1975 - LHR-JFK - one way as we cruised back to Southampton on the QE2. The date was 22nd September and our aircraft was G-BBPU.

My other Atlantic crossings have been:
LHR-LAX on Air New Zealand 747-400, September 1995.
LAX-LHR on Air New Zealand 744 in September 1995.
LHR-LAX on ANZ 744 in April 1997 - flightdeck visit on that one :-)
LAX-LHR on Anz 744 in May 1997 - flightdeck visit on that one :-)
LHR-LAX on ANZ 744 in April 1998.
LAX-LHR on ANZ 744 in May 1998.
Sabena and Sobelair - gone but never forgotten.
