I'm wondering why Easyjet is not selling tickets from Brussels to London after March 21 and to Toulouse after March 25 while sales are open to all the other destinations. Are they closing those services?
I didn't find any info about this on this forum.
Thanks

Re: Easyjet in 2016
EasyJet is not happy with the handling in Brussels. Aircraft often arrive early, but almost always leave late. These delays put pressure on the network and are translated into a cost. Furthermore easyJet wants to expand, but is short of aircraft. Choices have to made and the result is that several routes are discontinued although passengers figures were good. The same issues led to closure of the base in Madrid three years ago.
Re: Easyjet in 2016
easyJet is opening a new route to Montenegro: from Manchester to Tivat, close to the famous ancient city of Kotor and the beautiful the Boka Kotorska bay.
I visited that area earlier this year, but I flew with SN to Dubrovnik (Croatia), not far from there.

Their ground handling is done by Aviapartner, I believe.Poiu wrote:EasyJet is not happy with the handling in Brussels.
I've heard some sobering stories from the AP cargo side as well.

Re: Easyjet in 2016
I did about 40 flights with easyJet this year, on the inbound 80% departed early or on time, 90% arrived in Bru ahead of schedule.
80% of the outbound flights left late. When you ask the crew for the reason of the delay, they say they don't know, but that it often happens in Bru and that the company is not happy about it.

Re: Easyjet in 2016
Carolyn McCall, chief executive of easyjet, has been made a Dame in the New Year Honours list for her services to the aviation industry.
In 2008 she was given the OBE for services to women in business in the Queen's Birthday Honours List and was named Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year.
McCall joined easyJet in July 2010 from the Guardian Newspaper Group, helping the airline achieve record profits in 2012 and enter the FTSE 100 the following year. She saw off attempts by founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou to clip her wings, the shares rising from 440p at her arrival to the current 1750p. Last year she was asked by Prime Minister David Cameron to join his Business Advisory Group and was named business leader of the year at the National Business Awards.

Party at Amsterdam today, where EasyJet wellcomed its 40 millionth passenger out of AMS.
Re: Easyjet in 2016
The feud between easyJet founder Stelios Haji-Ioannou and the current management of the airline goes on!
Stelios (who still owns some 20% of the shares of the company) threatened legal action in his battle with carrier’s management over its dividend policy.
But EasyJet shareholders re-elected chairman John Barton, despite an attempt by Stelios to block the re-election over that dividend policy disagreement.

easyJet is increasing its offer on the routes from Luton to Amsterdam and Barcelona.

Strange, isn't it? Vueling just launched the same routes!

It looks like easyJet wants to drive Vueling out of those two routes. Let the best one win!

Air Berlin could bring easyJet on board as an investor, following a recent meeting. Any deal could include easyJet receiving a stake in Air Berlin’s Spanish routes and its Mallorca shuttle service.

Re: Easyjet in 2016
Investing money in another airline is so un-easyJet.
The bought TEA Swiss, GO, GB and FlyBe's operations at LGW, but they never invested money in a competitor.
On the other hand, they are sitting on a mountain of cash and they just issued some bonds to raise even more cash, so something could be up. They could buy a part of Air Berlin, eg the PMI shuttle, but they won't invest money in an airline which is struggling to survive.

EasyJet wants to recruit more than 1,200 new permanent and fixed-term cabin crew positions as the airline continues its growth.
Maybe they could hire some of the 211 staff fired by Turkish Airlines?

Takeover offer on easyJet ?
easyJet has declined to comment on rumours a take-over offer has been made for the low-cost carrier.
Financial news outlets such as the Financial Times last week reported lessor AerCap and easyJet founder Stelios Hajji-Ioannou had teamed up to submit an offer of GBP6.4 billion (USD8.4 billion) for the UK-based airline.
If indeed true, it would be the first time AerCap has ventured directly into the airline market leading to doubt among financial analysts as to the veracity of the reports. For its part, Hajji-Ioannou's family is easyjet's largest shareholder with a 33.7% stake.

Re: easyJet in 2016
A delay of one hour isn't really that much. But the passengers of yesterday's EZY-835 from Gatwick to Belfast weren't happy with it because they had already boarded, and because the reason was very unusual:
"...EasyJet can confirm that flight EZY835 from London Gatwick to Belfast returned to stand to replace two crew members following a verbal disagreement between them..."

EasyJet (UK) is close to taking a stake in TUIFly (Germany) in order to secure flying rights in Europe even after Britain leaves the EU.

After Lyon, Toulouse and London Gatwick, easyJet closes Berlin and Milan routes...
In the meatime, Vueling announced 2 weeks ago that they gonna close their Brussels hub.
Is Ryanair going to have a monopoly on the low-cost at BRU ?

Re: easyJet in 2016
My thoughts on this:
1. all that remains is
BOD 4/W Not served by FR from BRU, but from CRL
GVA 2,5/D Not served by FR
BSL 4/W Not served by FR from Belgium
NCE 1/D Not served by FR from Belgium
NAP 4/W Not served by FR
For an average of about 5 rotations to BRU, so, over the time of about a year there presence in BRU was reduced by 50%.
2. I don't believe this would have happened if FR stayed with its ultra low cost "annoy the pax" policy, so "upgrading" the product was a good strategy.
3. U2 didn't even try to compete with FR... FR came in... U2 left...
4. All these destination are also (better) served by SN... so I'm not so sure they'll remain on BOD, BSL, NAP and NCE... question remains... will FR start these routes as well...
5. I hope they remain, especially on GVA... we know what will happen when they will stop... ZRH prices to GVA... But I guess GVA would the very last route they would stop...
6. I guess a bottle of Laurent Perrier in BRU and a pint of Guinness in DUB were drunk when the news of the U2 retreat arrived...
Cheers,
Stij
