Passengers and crew received two rapid descends for the price of one. And a 90 minutes holding to burn off fuel:

Aircraft is just one year old:

'Lack of Dublin hotel rooms' forces Lufthansa flight back to Germany after medical emergency

A Lufthansa flight carrying 265 passengers from Frankfurt to Atlanta was forced to divert to Dublin earlier this afternoon, after a medical emergency on board. The medical emergency necessitated a 1.09pm landing in Dublin Airport, after which the female patient was treated by emergency services personnel and taken to Beaumont Hospital

According to a flight chart on the website FlightAware.com, the diversion appears to have taken place over the Atlantic ocean, about 240 km off the south-west coast of Ireland.

Due to legal limitations on staff duty time, the Airbus A343 could not take off again from Dublin to Atlanta today. The airline made an attempt to find hotel accommodation for passengers and the crew, but Bank Holiday Monday bookings meant there were not enough hotel rooms available to accommodate everyone.

For this reason, Flight LH 444 was forced to return from Dublin to Frankfurt later this afternoon. It arrived back in Germany at around 5.30pm Irish time. Flight crew and passengers will now be accommodated by the airline in hotels in Frankfurt, and the flight to Atlanta will take place tomorrow.

It was a hell of a weekend for TUI.nl - previously Arke:

Last Saturday, a TUI.nl (previously Arke) B737-800 (PH-TFC) with some 180 passengers onboard had a technical problem whilst climbing out of Dubai: a flap problem, needing a return to Dubai instead of a flight back home to Amsterdam (via Rhodos?).

Around that time, also on Saturday, a very nice TUI.nl 787-8 (PH-TFL) from Amsterdam to Bonaire had to divert to the Azores because "an intoxicated female passenger" locked her up in a toilet and said she had a bomb. The 787 landed at TER (Lajes), but crew time limitations made it impossible to continue to Bonaire.

Back to Dubai... Repairs for the 737 took much longer then expected. A lot longer... Actually, the aircraft is still stuck in Dubai (DWC) right now. With no spare aircraft available in the Netherlands, and already two backups called in to assist for the Curaçao delays, TUI finally arranged an Emirates aircraft to bring the Dubai passengers back home. This EK flight will take off from Dubai on Tuesday, 14h55 local. Arrival in Amsterdam will thus be three days later then planned.

Not via Rhodos, but via Bourgas. I imagine what these passengers have to endure: 8 hours in an LCC high-density configuration! Their flight on Emirates must have been a relief.

Security hoax forces EgyptAir plane to make emergency landing in Uzbekistan

An EgyptAir passenger plane en route from Cairo to Beijing was forced to make an emergency landing in Uzbekistan on Wednesday after receiving a security threat that the airline said turned out to be a hoax.

All 118 passengers and 17 crew members on board the Airbus A330 plane were evacuated in Urgench, western Uzbekistan, after the threat was made three hours into the flight, EgyptAir said in a statement.

The plane and passengers were searched by Uzbek authorities who confirmed that the threat was a hoax.

Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner G-ZBJF on flight BA277, London to Hyderabad, is returning to London with an "operational issue" after having reached the Black Sea. Long way for a diversion!

Saudia declared an emergency - and what a happy occasion it was!

This passenger did not have a ticket when SV21 left Jeddah in Saudi Arabia to fly non stop to New York JFK airport in the United States. This flight turned out to be everything else but routine for the Saudia air crew and one women passenger.

The captain declared an emergency when the ultra modern SAUDIA Boeing 777 flew over Northern Ireland. The pilot was instructed to dump fuel. The captain decided to divert the plane and landed safely at London Heathrow airport where a rescue team boarded the plane.

The reason had nothing to do with terror and bombs. A woman had delivered a premature baby girl on board a Saudi Arabian Airlines flight to New York.

The new born baby was doing well. The proud Saudi Arabian Airlines crew posed for a heart warming picture holding the baby on board the aircraft.

This photo emerged on social media and went around the globe.
