Airlines that flew from BRU

Post by nordikcam »

Since the departure of American ... and I hope his speedy return , 5 Philadelphia ) and maybe more desinations, after the cancel of the ATL flight and I hope it will come back soon on the portfolio of BRU...I have compiled a list of companies having set foot in BRU...
Do you imagine they could fly again to BRU...one day ?

Non exhaustiv list !

1.Europe : LG on LUX BRU or maybe charter flights ( I have a pic of a 737 of LG in BRU in the years 70 ).

2. America : CU on HAV BRU
VASP on SAO / Recife and Salvador BRU ( disapeared ) but TAM could arrive.
AA on JFK and PHL BRU
LAP ( Lineas Aereas Paraguays ) on Asunción Recife BRU ( I took this flight )

3.Asia : SQ on Singapore JFK
OZ (ASiana ) on Séoul Vienna ( If I remember wel ) BRU
Air Lanka on Colombo BRU ...maybe continuing to Paris or London
AI on Bombay BRU LHR
RB on Damas / Alep BRU...would flying again after the war finished...if someones decide to discuss
RJ on Amman BRU
Bengladesh Airlines on Dacca BRU JFK
9W on Bombay / Delhi / Chennai
Iraki Airways on Baghdad BRU
MS on KUL BRU
Afriquyah or Lybian Arab Airlines ( other problem)
GA on Djakarta BRU
A lot of asian companies !!!!!

4.Africa : SA on Jo'burg BRU
QC (Air Congo disapeared but Air Congo as the same identification ).
Cameroon ( disaperead but I guess there is a new one...Camair no ?)
and Gabonair came to BRU too.

Or the future of BRU will not pass by foreign companies but by the development of SN ( see other topic )
Thx for comments...

Philippine Airlines. The name "Brussels" can still be seen on the old-fashioned destination board at NAIA.

Air Mauritius used to fly to MRU, I think via ZRH? Or was it MRU-BRU-MAN at once stage? I can't recall...on both A340 and B767 I think.
bmi of course used to fly to BRU before they disappeared (though of course bmi Regional continue today).

Thanks! I was on the forum briefly a few years ago with the same username and continued to look at the website over those years, but I forgot my password in the meantime so re-registered :)

Indeed, Air Mauritius did fly to BRU. In 2003 they operated the flight via ZRH (flight MK060). Here are some pics I made on a spring evening in June 2003.

Also, Citybird does not exist anymore, but I loved its livery (and ATC callsign as well: 'dreamflight'). Flew BRU-LAX with them and OAK-BRU in July 1998.

Best regards,
Ivan

And everyone forgets the major airline that flew out of BRU: Sabena!

Also not to forget some other Belgian airlines that went down the drain: BIAS, Air Belgium, Sobelair, TEA, Virgin Express, VG Airlines -> Delsey Airlines, ...

The day Virgin Express disappeared, it was also the case for SN Brussels Airlines. ;)

About the possible relaunch of the seasonal AA PHL - BRU route next year, I have some doubts about it (even if I'd love it!) due to the route performance described in an other topic. LF was 40% on average
if I remember well...

On a side note, how I would love the return of Singapore Airlines at BRU!

SQ : I guess SQ will come back in the future.
AA : If they do not fly PHL BRU...why not MIA BRU ?
