( but you will mostly see JAF ( it's ICAO coding )... but official it's TB .... )

You will no longer see JAF. I spoke with the spokespersons of JAF today (Hans and Florence, plus de new one Pieter-Jan), and Jetairfly was asked to use the two-letter code, hence they will use TB from now on.

1) the IATA Airline Code which is a 2-character designator, e.g. SN / BA / TB / AF / LH
and
2) the ICAO Airliner Designator which is a 3-character code, e.g. BEL / BAW / JAF / AFR / DLH

You may then add their respective R/T code, e.g. BeeLine, SpeedBird, Beauty, Air Fancy, OttoPilot…

Do the changes at JetairFly affect their codes as well? What will they be?

I understand your confusion. But I see it like this: the ICAO codes are used by/for professionals, the IATA codes by/for the public at large.

On the screens announcing flights at Brussels Airport, two-letter codes are used for most airlines (with of course a few exceptions: EZY, EZS, JAF, ...). Brussels Airport has thus asked JAF (and maybe also the others) to revert to their 2-letter code i.e. TB, for uniformity. As simple as that

Are you sure? AFAIK Tui leased the Privilege style B777 for this flight. Or did Tui operate 2 flights to CUN yesterday?

Not exactly. Actually, I would go for "no 600 € compensation needed", only assistance (meals, drinks, hotels). There is jurisprudence from the European Court of Justice indeed in which a technical issue was refused as an extraordinary circumstance: passengers from an Alitalia flight (just google "Wallentin-Hermann"). However, the technical problem for their flight was an engine problem that was discovered the night before. The same court verdict also states that the initial judge may accept or refuse a technical issue as an acceptable extraordinary circumstance.

At this moment, there is an unofficial draft list of extraordinary circumstances, agreed upon in April 2013 by all National Enforcement Bodies of the European Union:

Me thinks that OO-JDL's technical problem from yesterday (gear? flaps?) falls under accepted extraordinary circimstance n° 21 from the list = no indemnity to be paid: "...Unexpected flight safety shortcomings: Any technical issues which cause the pilot to carry out an aircraft turnaround or diversion..."

If passengers go to court, I'm quite sure Jetairfly will refer to this draft document to get the compensation waived.

Also, 261/2004 is being reviewed now. In the proposal of the new text (thus not valid at this moment), inflight incidents will probably also be excluded for the €€€ compensation: "Non-exhaustive list of circumstances considered as extraordinary circumstances for the purposes of this Regulation... The following circumstances shall be considered as extraordinary: ...technical problems which are not inherent in the normal operation of the aircraft, such as the identification of a defect during the flight operation concerned and which prevents the normal continuation of the operation; or a hidden manufacturing defect revealed by the manufacturer or a competent authority and which impinges on flight safety..."
