Cancelled services and discontinued routes in 2016

Airlines are always very prompt to announce new routes. They rarely publicise discontinued routes.

This thread intends to fill that gap in airline communication. Here are a few recent decisions to cancel services:

1. Brussels Airlines will soon stop flying to Riga. This was already the subject of a topic:

2. KLM proudly announced a new route to Salt Lake City. They only forgot to tell that the route to Dallas-Fort Worth would be discontinued at the same time.

3. Lufthansa will cancel A340-300 service from Frankfurt to Kuala Lumpur on/after 01 March 2016.

2. KLM proudly announced a new route to Salt Lake City. They only forgot to tell that the route to Dallas-Fort Worth would be discontinued at the same time.

However, they did mention the suspension of Cologne in their press release (after spending almost the entire release on the 5 new European destinations...).

The most striking example in recent days was the announcement by Jet Airways of their new hub in Amsterdam. Not one word about Brussels (and its four routes) being abandoned. Even on their Facebook and Twitter accounts, they don't reply to posts asking about their intentions in Brussels. They don't give a shit about their customer base in Brussels...

Don't worry. SN contacted all pax PERSONALLY, holding a ticket for a flight after the planned stop of RIX . so those pax don't have to look on a FAQ page somewhere on a website....

Aer Lingus have confirmed they will not operate the Brussels - Cork route in Summer 2016. This seasonal route saw 2 weekly flights during Summer 2015.

According to the ASA website VLM is to cease the scheduled flights between Antwerpen and Geneva (mid Fedruary) and Birmingham (mid March).

Looking at the Wikipedia entry for Antwerp Airport, it seems VLM has confirmed both cancellations on Twitter.

In line with Kuwait Airways’ phased commercial strategy to enhance its network and schedule, the airline is announcing the suspension of its services carrying passengers between London Heathrow and New York’s JFK airport. But the airline will continue to operate all services from Kuwait to New York JFK as usual.

The airline is also cancelling all direct services between Kuwait and Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Sohag, and Alexandria with effect from 28th March 2016. As in the case of ‘Fifth Freedom’ services between London and New York, Kuwait Airways will also suspend services between Kuala Lumpur and Jakarta for summer 2016.

FlyDubai will also ends service to Entebbe and Kigali both end 20 January 2016.

Why is info being repeated in posts? I listed Flydubai Nizhny and Kigali, BTW they are leaving Burundi not Entebbe, also Kuwait routes listed except Sohag.

Looks like Easyjet cancelled their BRU -LGW service as from 21/03/2016 as well.
Not bookable after that date.
Any news about this route?
