Don't they already have more traffic rights? I can't recall the UAE - Belgium or Qatar - Belgium is limited in any way.

Probably due to the fact the FAA downgraded the level of India for several months, preventing Indian carriers to add new services to the US and/or signing new partnerships with US carriers :?:
But also because AF/KL and EY had some disagreement over something unknown. This cooled down their relationship.

Tonight I attended a dinner where I sat at the same table as a member of the management of Belgocontrol. He told me, without saying that it was confidential, that Brussels Airlines would start flying Brussels-Delhi after Jet Airways would move their hub to Amsterdam.

Wait and see. ...

Not saying anything about destinations or timing (as I'm probably not allowed ;) ), but at long last things will move forward for our long haul.
Should be announced soon!

In the mean time the destinations are not a secret, or it will be Toronto, or Montréal, or Newark, or Lagos-Libreville, or Delhi. Wich one they will choose is the secret.

Two additional long haul aircraft over period of 12 to 15 months
In spring next year, Brussels Airlines will add a ninth Airbus A330 to its fleet. This long-range aircraft allows to connect Brussels Airport and Toronto 5 times a week starting from April, to fill the void of the departure of Jet Airways. Sales of the Toronto flights start next week.
At the same time Brussels Airlines continues to focus on African growth. In spring 2016 extra flights to Kigali (Rwanda) and Entebbe (Uganda) are added to the schedule, bringing the flight frequency to 6 and 4 flights a week respectively.
In the coming 12 to 15 months a tenth A330 will join the fleet to expand the African offer. Brussels Airlines is currently analyzing two new routes, i.e. Lagos and Libreville. More information will be shared later.

Also, apparently Air India is looking into taking over the route to Mumbai. *A very effectively taking over Jet Airways' former destinations!

Air India and Brussels Airlines are in talk, it's a fact, that Air India will be operating the toute is less sure it could be Brussels Airlines.

2 EWR on UA
BOM on AI

Regarding India, no one talked about SN to DEL... AI to BOM instead.

I did, but I start having doubts about the reliability of the person who told me...

According to Luchtvaartnieuws.nl " The airline (SN) is looking whether it can open a new route to Mumbay in co-operation with partner Air India". I interpret this as meaning that SN would be the operating carrier rather than AI.

It seems everybody is so focussing on BOM and DEl. What about Bangalore and Chennai?
Many of of our programmers and IT-specialists are Indian and they are based in Bangalore/Chennai.
When a company needs to implement a new computerssystem dozens of those guys are coming over triggering demand for thousands of seats on a yearly basis, not only in Europe but also TATL.
Also part of our accounting activities are performed in Bangalore.
So, I would see an opportunity for some 2-3 weekly flights to these cities out of BRU.
Would triangle flights like in Africa also work towards India?
In any case by offering those destinations,I believe that would reinforce the presence of *A in India and lead to extra profit. Maybe there are also opportunities for freight, not sure on this one though.

Working for Belgocontrol isn't supposed to grant access to such informations...

With the arrival at Schiphol airport, Jet Airways is leaving Brussels Airport. Since 2007, the company established its European hub in Brussels. Naresh Goyal was in Schiphol today for the official inauguration of the hub. He answered questions about his move from Brussels.

The move is purely based on commercial reasons, said Goyal. "I still love Brussels Airport and the Belgians. Maybe we ever come back. But Amsterdam ad the KLM and Delta networks offer us more possibilities."

At Brussels Airport, Jet Airways also currently offers a daily flight to New York. This one does not move to Amsterdam and will thus fully terminate, thus Jet Airways stops flying to the United States on its own. Goyal does not rule out that Jet Airways will again operate with its own aircraft to the US in the near future. "A great Indian company like ours should be actually present in the US. When and how we return, I can not say. One solution we have to discuss with KLM and Delta Air Lines."

Whether Jet Airways will also join the SkyTeam alliance of Delta and KLM, Goyal shrugged away with a smile. "We just got married and you do not talk directly about another marriage."

The flights to/from Amsterdam are codesharing with KLM and Delta.

Indeed, but that's still short of joining SkyTeam.

French newspaper La Tribune says today that Jet Airways could duplicate in Paris CDG the same type of operation as in Amsterdam, with Air France and Delta codeshares. A Jet Airways flight could even return in the U.S. after a stop in Paris.

I happened to see three of their Airbus A330 at the gates in Schiphol this morning. They were parked next to each other.

The new AMS-connection was announced on TV-screens inside the terminal.
