Yesterday's JAF TB1963 OO-JEB flight ANR -> PMI, became ANR -> BRU followed later that evening by BRU - PMI, causing also considerable delay for the subsequent PMI -> OST flight.

This Saturday afternoon, the security at Brussels Airport have stopped a plane to Egypt because there was a terrorist threat. A suspect is being questioned. It is about a man who had long been monitored by security forces.Passenger wrote:Belga reports that MS-726 Egyptair Brussels-Cairo is grounded in Brussels.

Shortly before four o'clock, an aircraft from Egyptair with destination Cairo has been prevented to take off by the security services: a man had threatened that something would happen with the plane. Since this man was kept in view for a while by the security forces, better safe than sorry. He was taken in custody, and the plane was held on the ground. On board was also an important European diplomat, and it was feared that he might well be the target of terrorist action.
The federal police confirmed that the plane did not take off. "Flight MS 726 on Egypt Air from today September 5 (15.55 hours) from Brussels Airport to Cairo will not get permission to leave because of an additional review of the list of passengers and baggage."
"Given the uncertainties surrounding one of the passengers, the flight could not take off as a precaution to allow the competent authorities to carry out an extensive and thorough review. The departure of the flight depends on the duration of the relevant controls."
A few hours later, several passengers reported that the flight was cancelled and they have to rebook. One of them is disappointed on the phone: "Our vacation is obviously fallen into the water. Neither we nor our luggage ever hit the plane. Moreover, we were left completely in the dark: we got no information for hours. It was only when I watched the news, I knew what was going on. "

06 sept SN3126 BLQ-BRU aborted takeoff due to engine explosion in Bologna; flight subsequently cancelled.
Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2015
I somewhat doubt an engine "explosion" is the correct term here. If an engine explodes, it would mean structural failure of said engine, up to the point where the airframe, wings, etc. receive damage.
An abnormal event inside the engine might be more likely, probably an engine stall or surge. Both sound a lot like an explosion, under specific circumstances. Isn't BLQ reasonably known for birds in the vicinity, or do I remember that incorrectly?
By the way, I'm not trying to undermine your knowledge, SkyTourist ( Welcome to luchtzak, by the way!!), but until more information is known, I'd be weary about the terms used, just to avoid confusion.

Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2015
Explosion is probably not the correct term, I agree. A bang, lots of rambling and a squeaking stop. To use the captain's words then: "Le moteur a pete". Just curious about what actually happened
Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2015
Usually this flight is operated by an Avro RJ100 but exceptionally the aircraft involved was an A320: OO-SNC.SkyTourist wrote:06 sept SN3126 BLQ-BRU aborted takeoff.

This incident is reported in The Aviation Herald:
Incident: Brussels A320 at Bologna on Sep 6th 2015, rejected takeoff due to engine failure
http://avherald.com/h?article=48bfa3b9&opt=0
More troublesome: A passenger tweeted for help stating his flight of Sep 5th had been cancelled, the rebooked flight SN-3126 was cancelled, too, and the passenger is still in Bologna on Sep 7th.
That's more than an engine failure!

More than an engine failure, a Brussels Airlines failure !
If Brussels Airlines was unable to carry him, he could have demanded to be put on the Ryanair flight to Charleroi (dayly at 15.35).

Actually, that passenger could not say his flight of the 5th had been cancelled. There simply isn't any flight on Saturdays in the schedules! He should better look correctly at the timetable!

Apparently they are talking about the FLR flight on the 5th, which was cancelled due to high winds. Pax were rebooked on the BLQ flight the next day.

There was a false bomb alert for today's Ryanair FR-2929 Porto-Brussels.
All passengers had to deboard in Porto and were put "in qurantaine" at the airport. "Without information about what/why", one passengers reports.
The flight landed in Brussels at 16h05 (ETA was 13h25).
Source : Flemish newspapers.

On 10th Sept, American Airlines AA-750 (B757-200) Philadelphia-Brussels was enroute at FL360 about 110nm southsouthwest of Boston when the crew decided to divert to Boston reporting an engine problem...

A note found on an Aer Lingus plane this morning claiming a bomb was on board has been declared a hoax by Gardaí.
Aer Lingus Flight EI631 from Brussels was given priority to land at Dublin Airport this morning after flight crew reported that a note had been found in the toilet claiming a bomb was on board.
The aircraft was taken to a dedicated zone while Gardaí interviewed passengers and searched the plane.
