Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2015
Why wouldn't it be a decision from Ryanair? That sentence does not state the airport forbid them to disembark. It states they where forbidden to do so, but it doesn't say who gave the order. It might as well have been Ryanair ops that ordered to stay on board as the situation in CRL was about to become normal again.
Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2015
Right. So the airline took the decision not to deboard at BRU, but the crew told the passengers that Brussels Airport didn't allowed them to deboard. Unless, of course, the journalist is wrong with "ils n’avaient pas reçu l’autorisation". Ryanair = decision, Brussels Airport = authorisation.sean1982 wrote:It doesnt say that the airport didnt give authorisation to do so. Airports dont make such decisions, airline operations departements do. The fact that 1 airplane did disembark proves thisPassenger wrote:Yes, but the article said that it was not Ryanair's decision, but from the airport: ...On n’avait pas le droit de sortir car, apparemment, ils n’avaient pas reçu l’autorisation de nous faire sortir à Zaventem…", nous a confié Caroline Bordecq, une de nos journalistes présente dans l’avion en provenance de Marseille...Stij wrote:Imagine some want to disembark, others not, sorting out the luggage etc. everybody is much faster at home if all stay on board...
I agree with FR's decision.

Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2015
Sorry, what?
In language there is no difference made between the decision from an official organ or a private company. There is just more than one way to say something.
Ryanair can give authorization as well as the airport. It is just a way to say they are allowing something, whether it is a private company or a government body. Besides the airport is also a private company.
That is why you see so many signs 'authorized personnel only' in any closed off section of any company.

Why would they do that being so close to BRU?

SN204/13AUG was ready to land on 07L, but then pulled up again and went around for a 25R landing.

Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2015
Seems the ceiling is too low for the VOR/DME approach on 07L.
The missed approach point is 4.4 NM from BUB where the a/c altitude should be 660 ft. Ceiling at EBBR is BKN 400' at the moment....
Seems ILS 25R with tailwind was preferable to VOR/DME 07L

Re: Abnormalities in BRU-ANR-CRL-LGG-OST in 2015
Indeed. BRU is without a good option to land for the moment.
They report the ceiling below the minima for RWY07L as BKN004, but it is in fact OVC even; however, BRU never ever uses OVC for some odd reason.
RWY25R is having fairly strong tailwinds on approach, much higher than those measured on the ground, so definitely not ideal either.
Another example of the poor infrastructure of BRU in case of easterly winds: get ILS and some approach lights on 07L (and 07R).

After a significant increase in visibility, 07L is once again in use for both Departures and Arrivals.

Just publish an RNAV, much cheaper and quicker than installing an ILS.tolipanebas wrote: Another example of the poor infrastructure of BRU in case of easterly winds: get ILS and some approach lights on 07L (and 07R).

... plus easier (and thus again less expensive) on maintenance.
But hadn't RNAV approaches been announced anyway, beginning with EBAW?

Incident with a drone on A320 OO-SNB near Tel Aviv on 10 Aug 2015
Brussels Airlines flight SN3289 from Brussels, Belgium was involved in an airprox incident involving a drone near Tel Aviv, Israel.
The aircraft, an Airbus A320, was flying a runway 30 RNAV GNSS approach to Tel Aviv-Ben Gurion Airport (TLV) at the time of the incident. It was descending from 4500 feet to 2500 feet on the downwind leg of the approach when at an altitude of 4000 feet, 2 miles past the REBDO waypoint, a black/blue quadcopter was observed by the crew. The drone passed from right to left at the same altitude, at a distance of about 100 meters.
The approach was continued and a safe landing was made.

Normally, I'd claim that these aircraft are not drones, but UAVs... However, seeing the location of this incident, it might as well have been an actual drone.

There were some diversions and a lot of delays at Brussels Airport tonight:
19h51 : "...As (un)loading of aircraft & other activities on the apron are paused when there's risk of lightning strike, delays might be expected..."
20h38 : "...Lightning strike alert has been revoked and operations are now resuming..."

No airport is involved, but "Abnormality" for sure is correct:
Helicopter OO-153 took off from an industrial area in Kortrijk (Courtrai), but almost immediately had to make an emergency landing on a street nearby. Press reports state that the heli had hit a powerline.

A Thomas Cook Boeing 757-300, registration G-JMAB performing flight MT-1638 from London Gatwick to Hurghada had just reached cruise level 330 about 200nm east of Gatwick Airport and southsoutheast of Brussels (Belgium) when the crew received an abnormal indication and decided to burn off fuel and return to Gatwick Airport. On approach to the airport the aircraft dropped one of the over wing escape slides. The aircraft landed safely back in Gatwick about 2 hours after departure.
