BRU Summer 2016: news, new routes, airlines

Post by Atlantis »

There is in meantime more news about the direct flight of ANA to BRU.

According to the latest, they are going to start up the flight as from November 2016, but there is a big chance that they will start already as from Spring 2016.

It will be an evening flight and that's why the flight will be from Tokio Narita.

More news was released already because next year will be the 150 anniversary of diplomatic and friendship bounds between Japan and Belgium. A lot of more details were released of what their plans/wish are. but as you could read in my first post, it was already detailed.

Indeed. There is already a special web page for this event, by the Japanese Embassy in Belgium:

The deleted discussion had nothing to do with the topic at hand, and was bordering on being both highly political and somewhat provocative.
There are other places on the web to conduct said discussions.

Topic cleaned up.

Thanks for sharing this excellent news Atlantis!

Do you mean an evening departure from NRT or from BRU?
Any idea about weekly frequencies?
Will the flights connect to SN's Africa flights?

The article of the recent PM visit, with some interesting details.
120.000 pax O&D on average annually between BRU and TYO:

http://www.rtbf.be/info/belgique/detail ... id=8978606

Indeed, BRU and SN are jointly trying to remove the last hurdles for ANA to launch this route in spring already.
The flight will be code shared and ANA will put its codes on many connecting flights from BRU too.
In a later stage, SN can then join the J+ joint venture of the LH group airlines with ANA too.
Definitely very good news IF they manage to persuade them to act as operating carrier for this route.
Fingers crossed, as BRU needs more hub boosting flights and less of the low quality riff raff. ;)

You are very welcome Flanker2.

As Tolipanebas also mentioned, ANA will codeshare on many flights of SN which will be for them also a big boost.

They have the will to fly 4 to 5 times a week to BRU. Can be upgraded in a later stadium. But fingers crossed for now.

If confirmed, TYO will certainly be the major new 2016 destination from/to BRU.
But I am surprised about the possibility to make it from/to NRT over HND. I thought there was a curfew @ NRT...

BRU Summer 2016: latest news, routes, airlines

Post by Inquirer »

Those are said to be for next summer.
I agree that with all the rolling topics, things are getting confusing, both on what is really new, what is already operating right now and simply rehashed once more for PR reasons, what is planned for next season, and what is in the pipe line even further beyond, so maybe we are already in need of a topic for next summer, even though this one only just started, given some airlines blur everything together in order to have sufficient volume to try to create some sort of buzz!?

Should this not better be discussed in the relevant topic about the swap which happened between Lufthansa and their daughter airline Brussels Airlines and of which this is just a logical consequence?
Or was there no such dedicated topic? Strange, because its now very clear that this is a major strategic reshuffling, indicative of the very close managerial ties and long term mutual relationship of both airlines.
Shifting key markets between different corporate entities isn't done overnight by multinationals, believe me, nor is such done without firm and long term commitment to each other.
Another clear sign of their commitment is going to come after the summer holidays are over.
And yes, somebody may better have opened another topic on next summer destinations like you suggested, by then and not just for a bunch of silly short haul routes only. ;)

There was already a topic opened a while ago about BRU Summer 2016. Some posts were already written there. I suggest to use that topic further and to close this one? What do you think moderators?

Ryanair will fly three new routes compared to Summer 2015: Berlin SXF (3x daily), Bratislava (1x daily) and Larnaca (2x weekly).

Increased frequencies to Barcelona (3 to 4 daily), Dublin (2 to 3 daily), Malaga (1 to 2 daily) and Rome FCO (2 to 3 daily).

BTS is a nice addition for BRU, as well as LCA but the later with low frequencies and fairly bad schedule.
As far as I know, DUB used to be flown 3 times daily on some days already by them?
similarly, that twice daily schedule on AGP is not available on every week day?
VRN on the other hand is axed after just one single season only.
All in all, only very modest growth for next summer season, once again.
Not really in line with their ambitions at the start, something they now openly admit too for the first time.
The official reason given by them is that BRU is full. If that's the case, the topic will remain fairly empty. :(

8 new daily routes for BRU is modest growth? Just watch as the fleet doubles over the next 5 years ;)
They didnt say that BRU is full. They said there was no pssible growth for FR .. that is a tactic as well off course.

Oh for crying out loud, can we please, PLEASE have ONE topic without another instalment of the exact same Ryanair bitchfight we've incessantly got going on in almost every other topic that can even remotely be tied to either FR or SN?

Please? Pretty please?
