For winter Brussels Airlines will continue Zagreb and Billund, but does anyone know when the new winter destination will be announce? It's seems also that the Tel Aviv flight will be downgraded

Great news. Thanks for this scoop, Airbuske!

Could it be in the framework of the cooperation with Thomas Cook Airlines Belgium?

I find this a very smart move from SN ! A big potential but a lot of people are willing to pay 200-400 € for a return ticket ! Some even with more Luggage. And also for connecting pax on the Friday flight !

It's nice to see SN expending the leisure network but I hope they will also start a more business route to feed the long haul.

I fully agree. Brussels Airlines is making its dream come true which it had since it merged with VEX, i.e. being a low cost carrier which incidentally will also carry business travellers (or high yield pax).

It has been working hard to fight FR by introducing, for instance, a "no hold luggage" fare (never remember the names of their new fares) or attracting families (b.family), but what have they been doing for business travellers or high yield pax prepared to pay a lot more for additional benefits ? (whereas Easyjet and FR have just done the opposite : being LLCs first and now trying to attract business travellers). Will they all three in the end be offering very similar products ? If this is the case, SN is still too expensive (no cheap one-day returns or even for return flights where dates of outbound and inbound flights are close to each other ; seldom cheap one way fares).

No investments in long haul flights (like the evening flight to New York, which is bitterly missing ; I wished this could have been announced iso flights to the Canary Islands). They seem to want to invest all their means in low yield European leisure flights. But perhaps that's all they are capable of doing.

Just saw the press release as well! Too bad they are leaving Nairobi, mother Lufthansa made the decision for them I guess.

But, as the flight to Kigali are continuing as normal this would mean that we will have still the same number of departure for east africa, which means that we still have the same capacity there? Is a new aircraft expected in October?

Why does SN operate a switch between NBO & ACC?
The numbers on the NBO weren't good enough? is there more potential on ACC?
NBO was an historical dot for both SABENA and brussels airlines and a key destination in E-Africa... too bad to see them ceasing ops there...

Indeed, NBO has probably a much bigger potential than ACC, and therefore Mamma Lufthansa takes it away from her daughter SN. A pity! Even when Sabena was a subsidiary of Swissair, NBO was never abandoned: SN and SR were sharing frequencies so that it was possible to fly daily to NBO with either SN or SR.

But let's not forget the positive news: KGL non-stop in both directions will probably take away some KLM customers flying one-stop to that destination. And Lomé, Cotonou and Oudagoudou see their frequencies increase, and here it is Air France that will feel the pressure.

SN is weak in E.-Africa, the Kenyan market is doing really bad right now (also see how Kenya Airways is suffering and takes all the 777's out fleet) and even in the good days it was never a great route for SN anyway. LH has much more feeding from all over the world and is more capable of handling with the heavy competition in NBO. ACC is a much better fit in their West-African network.

In my opinion this swap is nothing more than very logical sense on group level.
