SN will not start DXB. Not with EK daily flight. Another missed opportunity was BEY up until
ME took up the route 3 years ago, with a lot of success. Now it is too late.

It's again on the table that Abu Dhabi and Etihad wants more flights to BRU.
An economic mission in the interest of Belgium would not allow more EK and EY flights in BRU, but SN flights to AUH and DXB. What does Belgium get in exchange for all the ME-3 flights to BRU?
Of all economic missions Belgium organised in the past, it was the national airline of that specific country that started months after flights to Belgium and not a Belgian one.
It's in the interest of both and I'm very glad that they are flying, and willing flying, to Belgium because of them we can fly directly.

And the same for cargo. Etihad is going to increase their cargo flights up to 10 flights a week by January.
Is Etihad flying cargo to Brussels?
Hasta la victoria siempre.

10 Etihad cargo flights a week? Wow! Quite impressed, how many times is Qatar flying ex-BRU each week?

Qatar Cargo, Atlantis mixed them up for a minute. But yes, still impressive of them as they only very recently started with cargo flights to BRU.

But I heard they have a very negative effect on SN's NBO route as that one doesn't have high pax yields due to high competition and now also cargo is getting worse due to QR Cargo. But that are just 'rumours' so I don't know what's true about it.

What's the frequency during the rest of the year? Like 4 or 5 weekly in winter and 5 or 6 weekly in summer (except for the months when it's daily of course)?

According to this article Air Berlin (operated by NIKI), with effect from April 7, will offer a double daily Bratislava to Brussels National return service using an EMB-190.

Edit: according to this article NIKI will also start flights between Vienna and Brussels National.

No based on the schedule it is 11 weekly BTS-BRU (double daily on weekdays and daily on Sunday) and in between the aircraft rotates on BTS-VIE.

But this a strange schedule for sure, double daily with both flights in the morning and flights between VIE and BTS...VIE is very often used to visit Bratislava because they are so close to each other, and now Niki will fly between these two?

Based on both articles more routes will be announced in early December by Niki out of BTS. But it's strange they have these BTS-VIE rotations in the GDS, in my opinion it doesn't really make a lot of sense to fly on that extremely short route.

Bratislava (Pressburg in German)-Vienna by road is 40 km. In Belgium such a flight would be prohibited!

Every time I had to go to Bratislava, I flew to Vienna and rented a car.

I wish Niki success on the BTS-BRU route, but I doubt... OS tried it 10 years ago, and they failed.

CSA also tried it a couple of years ago, and those flights aren't around any longer either, André.
I think the reason is obvious: the real money is to be made where the business is conducted, i.e. in Vienna. Nobody really needs to be in Bratislava, so it only works for a hard discounter like Ryanair. Strange they haven't launched it yet from BRU and now these guys from Niki surprisingly run away with the financial route start up aid from the airport.
VIE-BTS is probably the shortest commercial flight in the EU: wonder who will book that?
Strange choices indeed.

Is it sure the leg BTS-VIE is by plane; Can be that they sell train tickets just like AF has the Eurostar between Brussels and Paris, no?

Cheers,
Danny

Not according to the schedule showed through the link given above, it shows E90 (so Embraer E190) as equipment for both the BRU and the VIE rotations.
