SN A333 OO-SFO scheduled to take-off at 22:00 and fly, non-stop this time, to São Paulo.

There could have been some savings in sending the Red Devils back to the country in the BAF A321 which is already in Brasilia and needs only to make a short hop to São Paulo (to pick up the suitcases...).

"Les Bleus" are taking a Gol flight (besides the "goal" they have taken from Germany :) ) to Rio de Janeiro, and from there an Air France flight to Le Bourget (not to Lille from where they departed).

The A321 is proving its purpose here.
It saves Belgium tons of money over A330's and it can do the missions perfectly.

According to Flightradar they are flying non-stop from GRU to BRU. Seem to be quite impressive when you take in account that OO-SFO is a reasonably old bird (20yo, 1994).

Yes and no as payload is really everything. When flying to and from Africa, these birds are heavy loaded with cargo but on this charter the hold is almost empty as the football association has a contract with partner GLS to bring back most cargo...

How many fuel stops needs Di Rupo's A321 for its return flight?

On the outbound trip there was only one in Cabo Verde.
