The incoming UA972 seems to have landed on time, but the outgoing UA973 to Chicago is cancelled (ETD was 11h00).

According to Flightradar, it's N648UA.

Perhaps a bit off topic because it didn't happened at Belgian airport, but anyway:

On 29th May, TNT Airways OO-THC, 747-400F in Emirates skycargo Colours, had a hydraulic failure while descending towards Frankfurt.

Maybe it's the same crew flying MAD-BRU-MAD and they are out of hours to do the whole BRU-DKR leg. So they might be picking up a (or two) standby crew(s) in their home base who can then take over the aircraft.

The stop in MAD is indeed for crew change.

Not really in a Belgian airport, but with a Jetairfly plane:

Technical problems on a Jetairfly plane

A plane of the Belgian airline Jetairfly has been forced to cancel its flight from the international airport of Chalons sur Marne (France) due to technical problems during refueling.

The plane, a Boeing 737-800 operating flight TB6618, which was to make the connection between the Vatry Chalons sur Marne International Airport and Côte d'Azur International Airport in Nice (France) on 1 June with 104 passengers on board, was to take off around 11:30 local time and was being filled with fuel when the technical teams reported a technical problem on the aircraft.

The passengers had to wait for a new aircraft that took off around 19:30 to its intended destination. The airline did not specify the nature of the problem but said a spare part was to be delivered on site to do the repair.

This morning there was a short power cut at Brussels Airport!

http://www.standaard.be/cnt/dmf20140603_01127983 in Dutch!

Emergency generators kicked in and after 10 minute the normal power supply was restored.
However, it took 10 minutes before all computers at check-in were rebooted and operational.

Cheers,

Stij
