Hi all,
According to a few people within JAF, OO-TUC will be retired in september. This is, as far as we know, before the B788 will arrive and therefore JAF will lease additional equipment from Arke.
Any reason why TUC will be prematurally retired? Quite obviously leasing in an aircraft and crew is costing JAF quite a lot more then keeping TUC a few months longer
Your input is very much appreciated.

Re: OO-TUC retirement
Many possible reasons:
-End of lease term
-Major maintenance overhaul coming up, decided was not worth to invest in it.
Rather than TUC retiring too early, the problem is probably that the B788 is late, hence JAF will probably get interim lift and Boeing will foot the bill.

Re: OO-TUC retirement
According to the latest, the new B788 will not enter the fleet before January 2014.

End Of Life from what I've heard, won't be sold to a new owner who will fly it ... scrap so to say
Re: OO-TUC retirement
The rumour I heard would be that the B788 would arrive in october?
TUC in any case costs JAF a small amount of money as they only have to pay for the aircraft once it's in the air, just like with the B735 a few years back. But if it's end of life, that would seem logical

Re: OO-TUC retirement
The OOTUC leaves in October.
Apparently the owner doesn't want to invest in heavy maintenance anymore.
The B788 is still foreseen in Belgium at the end of November, no change about that.

Ok, thanks for that. Then it is in service a month earlier then what I received according to the new long haul schedule.
Re: OO-TUC retirement
Long haul will start at the end of December indeed, but that doesn't mean the aircraft won't fly before that
Re: OO-TUC retirement
shame I'm going up and down to PUJ in October, so I just missed it
I reserved seats this morning and according to the seat plan it will be an (old) arke 767

The plane is in production; in the table hereunder it is LN137 (which will not go to Thomson under registration G-TUIE, but to JAF under registration OO-J**)

Re: OO-TUC retirement
Fingers crossed that we can see and fly the JAF 787 as soon as possible.
Re: OO-TUC retirement
According to my info, the JAF B788 will be ZA327, not 321.sn26567 wrote:Why?air belgium wrote:Fingers crossed for the 788!

Re: OO-TUC retirement
OO-TUC left homebase this morning for his last flight to SGT, where he will be dismantled...RIP
Re: OO-TUC retirement
Anyone who knows which ArkeFly plane is going to fly for JAF?
Re: OO-TUC retirement
I, for one, say, finally ! I had my life's longest delay with this plane (18h) from Mexico and this plane was famous among aviation fans for being poorly maintained by Varig hence constantly suffering problems...
Re: OO-TUC retirement
Stuttgart Municipal Airport in Arkansas, USA...
In Google Earth you can see a FedEx and two SWA planes being dismantled...
EDIT: Google Earth added!
Cheers,
