Anybody knows whether the rumors about the A400M and the NH-90 taking part of the Royal Parade on the 21st are true?
If so, I guess the A400M will come to Melsbroek first? Any idea on arrival times?

Hi,

As stated on the official site of the belgian defence mil.be ,a dutch NH90 and the A400M will indeed be present at the national defilé...

The NH90 will be take-off from Koksijde, no news about the A400M but as it's a fly-over I don't think there's a need for visit to Melsbroek of the A400M..
besides who will noticed it there on the national feast as the upper level of the defence component is present @ BRU city

But maybe a nice formation of C130H and A400M togheter...

There were two things that struck me during the military parade:

• The Alphajets coloured the sky with the colours of Romania: Blue-Yellow-Red
  
• The A400M "Atlas" was the star of the show and made a remarkable fly-by. I was surprised to see that on each wing one propeller was turning clockwise and the other one counterclockwise.

All together, 48 aircraft in a perfect line-up and timing.

Indeed the blue colour was a little spot on the national defilé..
Didn't see the A400M at EBMB ... so came straight from France/Spain..

Anybody noticed that SATA was @ BRU today with their A310 ... took off around 16h00..
Also noticed a JET AIRWAYS B737-800 parked @ BRU...

Nice specials today,but anybody an idea for which touroperator these specials were sheduled ????

Love to fly the SATA once from BRU... as charter.

This counter-rotation characteristic is known as Down-Between-Engines (DBE) and the A400M will be the first aircraft ever to use such a configuration. The advantages of DBE have far-reaching effects both aerodynamically and structurally. Firstly, airflow over the wings is symmetrical, improving lift characteristics and the lateral stability of the aircraft. Secondly, DBE allows for an optimum wing design by eliminating most of the effects of torque and prop-wash on each wing, concentrating the airflow over the most efficient portion of the wing located between the engines. DBE also reduces the “critical engine” effect of severe yaw in the event of an outboard engine failure. The result allows a 17% reduction in the area of the vertical tail surface.

Further aerodynamic advantages inherent in DBE have been found to give a 4% increase in lift from the wing at slow speed, which enables, for the same total lift, a simpler, lighter flap system to be employed. As a consequence of the lessening of the aerodynamic forces applied to the flaps, the surface area of the horizontal tail-plane can also be reduced by 8%.

It came straight from TLS indeed, holding above Ostend first before joining the other aircraft and flying directly back to TLS afterwards.
