does someone have a list of airplanes and their prices

Post by Oansis »

I have to make a work for school in Excell, and I want to make something with an airline who's buying some aircrafts. Does someone has a list of (nearly) all aircrafts and their prices or do you know where I have to look for it?

Thanks!

The list prices have little to do with the prices that airlines actually pay.

Here are some list prices: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-05-2 ... able-.html

Be advised that the price an airline actually pay is a secret: it's commercial sensitve information. 20 to 30% discount on the list price is not very strange. It is rumored it could go up to even 50% in some rare cases.

It depends on how many you want, (1 or 100 makes a different, for the unit price) , and which options you want (cabin customization, addon packages). And ofcourse if you are a valuable customer.

for boeing the prices are at this link

http://www.boeing.com/commercial/prices/index.html

for airbus you have to scroll down until you find pricelist document at this link

http://www.airbus.com/presscentre/corpo ... documents/

prices from other companies are more difficult to find

Correct... The RLP's (Recommended List Prices) are nowhere near the actual price a customer pays... Even a first time customer buying one single plane will get a reduction on the list price... And then there's the "how" a plane is obtained... When a plane is bought directly from the manufacturer and is paid in hard cash (as a figure of speech) one will get a more decent offer then one who goes through a leasing company or leases directly from the manufacturer... The less risk for the manufacturer, the better the price will be... And of course there's the amount of planes bought... Buying 1 plane will get you a reduction of the RLP, buying 10 planes will get you a bigger reduction, etc... However, buying 100 or 200 planes doesn't necessary means that one will get a plane nearly for free... If a plane has a big demand and slots are limited then it will be seen in the final price, certainly if an airline wants them "now", if the customer can wait then they'll most likely get a better deal... And there's the image of the customer, if EADS snatches a long time customer from Boeing and it's one of the biggest airlines in the world, you can be sure that EADS will bent over to get the deal... For example: EADS won a rather big order from AA, while the final price is unknown, you'll notice that EADS is happy to have a finance deal with AA even though AA isn't in a to great shape financially... They take the risk to end up with a bunch of planes that AA potentially can't pay for but they'll take the risk to have a big foot between the door if everything goes as planned. They'll probably won't have a big margin on those planes but the image of AA flying an big amount of Airbusses is nearly priceless. It can potentially open the door to further orders of other big American airlines like UA, DL or even SW which is the most loyal Boeing customer arround... And yeah, there's indeed the issue of how the plane is delivered, did the customer go through the whole option list or did they only buy a basic plane, it all helps to decide the final price of a plane... Does the customer buys a package including (heavy) maintenance, etc... Loads of factors to take in consideration before you can even think about a final price...

So the short version: The actual price of a plane is subject to dozens of variables and it's nowhere near the so called recommended list price ;)

I would expect that especially a publicly traded company cannot really keep the amount they paid for new planes secret, digging through their financial statements should give some insight.
