BRU winter 2011/2012: latest news, routes, airlines

Post by RoMax »

The new summer season just started, but the first changes for the comming winter season are already known.

Aeroflot will go from 8 weekly flights to double daily flights to Brussels, all operated by A320 (now they often use A319). I wonder if SN will be allowed to fly more to Moscow now.

Code: Select all

SU235 SVO1015 – 1155BRU 320 D
SU231 SVO2110 – 2240BRU 320 7
SU231 SVO2125 – 2255BRU 320 x7

SU236 BRU1245 – 1815SVO 320 D
SU232 BRU2335 – 0450+1SVO 320 7
SU232 BRU2355 – 0510+1SVO 320 x7

As Aeroflot will go double daily, hopefully yes. This is what SN planned for summer 2008:

SN2835 BRU1220 - DME1545 319 D
SN2839 BRU2330 - DME0450 319 x7

SN2836 DME1630 - BRU2000 319 D
SN2840 DME0545 - BRU0730 319 x7

However, in the end they weren't allowed by the Russians to go double daily, as AFL wasn't allowed to expand to BRU either (if IIRC)

Delta Airlines is upgrading BRU again. On the route BRU-JFK we will see their B763 instead of the current 757-200

Jetairfly is going to start up a new long haul destination ex-BRU. It will be Santo Dominco in the Dominican Republic. It will be a weekly flight and this on Monday.

It was known Nantes and Bordeaux are/were possible future destinations for SN in France. But for Nantes it will be not SN but AF. Recently AF started to announce new routes out of regional airports and now they announced DUS and BRU out of Nantes.

The flights to DUS and BRU will be operated with ERJ135 aircraft, 2 daily to BRU (no flights saterday and 1 daily on sunday) and 6 weekly to DUS. Flights start at 2 October (so actually a bit before W11-12 starts).

Code: Select all

AF3152 NTE0755 – 0920BRU ER3 x67
AF3156 NTE1535 – 1700BRU ER3 7
AF3156 NTE1635 – 1800BRU ER3 x67

AF3153 BRU1000 – 1125NTE ER3 x67
AF3157 BRU1730 – 1855NTE ER3 7
AF3157 BRU1830 – 1955NTE ER3 x67

BTW, just found out, they actually also resume the BOD service, but trough NTE. The flights depart in BOD and fly trough NTE to BRU and return to BOD trough NTE.

Regarding BOD & NTE, sad to see that AF finally took the opportunities over SN.

But SN can still operate these routes. SN can use transfer pax of these routes, next to the point to point pax. AF can only use the point to point pax as AFI pax are not going to fly BRU-NTE-CDG-AFI but BRU-CDG (by train)-AFI.

This is one of the great things that SN can do with the turboprop's. They can make a killing on these 2 routes.
Guess what, AF is doing SN the favor of starting-up the route for SN and SN can go in and steal all the pax from them at lower fares.

MR_Boeing.
Not realy they can do like they did befor and use Delta for ex to feed New York or Atlanta.
And they can do the same with all the other Skyteam partner.
Hasta la victoria siempre.

Yes ok, that's true, AF can indeed take traffic pax on these flights... But this don't change SN's oppertunities. SN can operate BOD and/or NTE to compete on the point to point side and they can use the route(s) to feed the AFI network (or who knows their future atlantic flight).

Indeed, this is an exemple of thos thin routes wich are not a really good idea with a RJ85, for sure not with a RJ100. But this is something completely else than a bussy or busier route flying with a TP/Q400. ;)

Just noticed while booking on their site, that Air Canada will downgrade flight to/from YUL and YYZ from A330 to B763 again during winter.

That was planned before, but it was also planned that it would be daily B763ER during the winter. But this seems the be gone in the GDS for quite some time, now it is 5 weekly B763ER (wasn't it 4 weekly previous winter?).

I thought the upgrade was planned to be the year round. Also the daily service was announced year round starting from this summer... However, a 5 weekly service is still one up from the 4 weekly service last winter.

So in general the route is being upgraded compared to last winter though it's being downgraded compared to the announcements.

As far as I know the idea was to go daily year round, with A333 upgrade during summer (even not the full IATA summer season btw). Suddenly from 4 weekly B763 to daily A333 in winter would be a bit too much, isn't it, even for this succesfull route...
But indeed it's less than they planned earlier this year.
