GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS), the commercial aircraft leasing and financing arm of General Electric [NYSE: GE] and European turboprop manufacturer ATR, today announced a new order for 15 ATR 72-600s, plus 15 options. The deal is valued at approximately US$680 million at list prices, including options. This is a first-time ATR order for GECAS.

Boeing, Norwegian Air Shuttle Announce Order for 15 Next-Generation 737-800s
Boeing and Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA, commercially branded 'Norwegian,' today announced an order for 15 Next-Generation 737-800 airplanes at the international 2011 Paris Air Show. The order, valued at $1.2 billion at list prices, brings the total number of 737-800s Norwegian has ordered direct from Boeing to 78.
The carrier also has finalized its contract to purchase three Boeing 787 Dreamliners, an agreement the Oslo based operator announced in May, which brings the total number of Boeing 787s it will operate to five including two to be leased from ILFC.
The order announcement was made at the Paris Air Show by Boeing Commercial Airplanes Vice President of Sales & Marketing Marlin Dailey and Norwegian Air Shuttle CEO Bjorn Kjos.
"Norwegian continues to be a leader in the industry by providing its passengers with both the new Boeing Sky Interior and Wi-Fi on its new Boeing 737-800's – this is a terrific combination for passengers on the most fuel efficient single-aisle airline operating in today's market," Dailey said. "Norwegian has achieved great success and we take pride in the 737's contribution to its achievements."

The digitally designed Next-Generation 737 is the most technologically advanced airplane family in the single-aisle market. The 737-800, which can seat up to 189 passengers is 1,700 pounds (771 kg) lighter and can fly 315 nautical miles (583 km) farther while carrying 12 more passengers than the competing model.
Today's operators fly 737s that are 5 percent more fuel efficient than the first Next-Generation 737s and additional improvements are on the way. Boeing's performance improvement package will boost fuel efficiency by approximately 2 percent through aerodynamic and engine changes. The improvements to the airframe and engine are expected to be in service between mid-2011 and early 2012 and will be incorporated into the 15 aircraft ordered by Norwegian.
Norwegian is the third largest low-cost airline in Europe. It operates 238 routes to 97 destinations across Europe into North Africa and the Middle East. More than 13 million passengers flew with the airline in 2010.

RYANAIR AND COMAC (COMMERCIAL AIRCRAFT CORP. OF CHINA) SIGN C 919 MOU IN PARIS
Ryanair, the world’s favourite airline, today (21st June) in Paris signed a Memorandum of Understanding with COMAC to participate in discussions on the development of the COMAC C919 aircraft for Ryanair, which would be designed to carry up to 200 passengers and should be available from 2018 onwards.
Ryanair, the world’s largest international scheduled airline, will share its experience and expertise to assist COMAC to develop the new C919 commercial aircraft, with up to 200 seats, which would enable Ryanair to lower costs and continue to lower fares for its passengers across Europe.
Speaking in Paris, Ryanair’s Michael O’Leary said;
“Ryanair is pleased to sign this MOU with COMAC, and to work closely with them to develop a 200 seat C919 aircraft. Bombardier Aerospace announced today that Korean Air, South Korea's flagship airline, has signed an agreement to acquire 10 Bombardier CS300 aircraft with an additional 10 options and 10 purchase rights on CS300 airliners. The parties signed a Letter of Intent (LOI) after several months of detailed negotiations.

One of the more interesting orders/loi so far: 30 CS100 for Korean Air...

Boeing and Kuala Lumpur-based Malaysia Airlines today announced the airline has exercised an option to purchase 10 additional Next-Generation 737-800s. The order is valued at more than $800 million at current list prices. The airline still has purchase rights for an additional 10 Next-Generation 737-800s remaining from their initial 2008 contract.

Solar Impulse's Sun-powered prototype is unlikely to take part in any flying displays before the end of the week, unless the weather takes a dramatic turn for the better.
The Solar Impulse team had been hoping to fly the HB-SIA prototype each morning during the show, but a rainy start to the week has put a dampener on those plans.
Solar Impulse co-founder Bertrand Piccard said "we will have to see in the next few days" whether a flight is possible, adding that it is unlikely to happen on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Indonesian carrier Garuda has signed for 25 Airbus A320s, including 10 Neos, for its Citilink low-cost carrier subsidiary. The deal, announced during the Paris air show, includes options for 10 A320neos.

GECAS announced an order for 2 B747-8F's and 8 B777-300ER's. The B748F is a new aircraft in GECAS' portfolio. Boeing and GECAS are finalising the last details of the order, and as soon at it's firmed it will appear on Boeings orders & deliveries webpage.
Some sources say Gulf Air is the one who ordered 2 of the 17 B748i's yesterday, but as far as I know neither Boeing or Gulf Air confirmed this. The news was launched by some people after Boeing placed a video on their special Paris Air Show website and Youtube about the CEO of Gulf Air telling that he is impressed by the B748i. But as far as I know Gulf Air is not confirmed (and I doubt a little bit they are behind the order). Rumours say later this week or next week the airline wich ordered the 15 B748i's will announce it themself.
Boeing also said at this Paris Air Show that the testing with the B748i is going very smooth and they expect the EIS of the B748i going as good or even better as with the B777 (one of the best EIS of a big commercial aircraft ever, the B777 did better then all the expectations). So if this proves to be true that may attract more future orders for the B748i. Of course they learned already a lot with the B748F testing so that the B748i doesn't have these problems anymore.

ZA001, the first Boeing 787 is on it's way to Paris. Certification testing for the FAA with the RR powered 787 is finished, later this month Boeing will start F&R and ETOPS testing wich is of course also needed. This will take arround a month, after wich the B787 is ready to be certified.
Testing with the GE B787's is still going full power ahead.
Tomorrow between 11:00 to 12:00 the B787 will be open for media viewing and this is what the Boeing website (of Le Bourget 2011) says: "Launch customer ANA, wich will receive its first 787 in August or September, will make a special announcement at the B787 display."

, like LAN, they ordered already 8 this year (but I think also some cargo's) and have more on order from previous years. Airlines wich need a new aircraft fast can't order B787, and B777 may be too big. So A330 and B767 remaining and some Boeing customers still choose these B767's (like JAL, ANA, LAN,...) as a intrim solution until their majority of their B787's start to arrive. Boeing will even increase production of 1.5 B767/month to 2/month to make it more attractive. Boeing just want the production to stay running until they start assembling the tankers for the US Air Force.-
