Iberia Cargo to start MAD-BRU

Post by OO-VEX »

As of June 1, Iberia Cargo will start with direct MAD-BRU flights.
Perishables of South-America will be connecting on this flight out of MAD.

Who can provide more info? number of flights, aircraft type, operator,...?

The route will be flown 3 times a week and this with a B737F.

Adelantex will be the handler. AD Handling (sister company of Adelantex) and forwarder Cacesa Forwarding are both involved.

According to Iberia it will be a very qualitative connection and the Belgian market has a lot of potential and is underserved.

Who will be the operator? The last time they flew to the BeNeLux they flew the Gestair 75Fs to MST. As far as I know Gestair only has 75Fs, one DC8F and (if I'm not mistaken) they also have a 76F flying for TNT.

BTW shouldn't the title of this thread be "Iberia moves cargo ops to BRU" to have this topic in line with the thread about Royal Jordanian Cargo ;)

Those flights had stopped in MST, so no topic name change. But it's a good news for BRU ;)

Full Freighter connecting South America with Brussels Airport

Adelantex starts a cooperation with the “Cool & fast” perishable program of Iberia on the 1st of June 2011.

From the 1st of June, Adelantex starts a gateway to Brussels for the import of perishables form Latin America. The past months, Adelantex has worked together with Iberia, Cacesa and Brussels airport to upgrade the “Cool & fast” program Brussels by installing a direct gateway through a full freighter service between Madrid and Brussels.

The network that Adelantex has built over the past 18 years will now connect within one day with the entire Latin American continent. It will be a great opportunity to work with a continent that exports about 140000tons yearly of high quality perishables to the BENELUX, Germany, France and the UK. With 3 flights a week and an average flow of 60 tons weekly, Adelantex will be able to deliver perishables to-door within short timeframes. The connection between Iberia, a passenger airline with extensive experience on Latin America and Adelantex, a freight forwarder with expertise in perishables, promises to be already a success story.

Adelantex will closely work together with the forwarding agent of Iberia Cacesa. Their network of agents in the different Latin American countries will ensure optimal communication pathways between Iberia, Cacesa Madrid and Adelanetx in Brussels, a pivotal elemenet in the handling and shipping of perishables with the Cool & Fast program.

Seems that the last flights ex MST were operated by Saicus Air (and they have a 737-300F). Thus I reckon this one will come to BRU
