3th handler allowed when 2 years in a row either BRU's handled cargo exceeds 650 000 ton or pax exceeds 24 milion
Bad news imo because right now both cargo and pax handled are far away from those figures
new KB for grondhandling services.

Typical for Schouppe! "Yes, we allow it, on unrealistical conditions!"

Bad news indeed...cnc wrote:3th handler allowed when 2 years in a row either BRU's handled cargo exceeds 650 000 ton or pax exceeds 24 milion

From the 17 million today it's an increase with 20.000 extra passengers a day to achieve this... Quite unrealistic...
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
'De Tijd' calculated that in 2024/25 a third handler will be allowed if traffic will increase the coming years similar to the increase of the second part of 2010. Transit loads are not included in those figures.
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
Apparently, it seems Menzies will come at BRU.
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
A lot of rumours
Menzies, Swissport, B.air/LH
If this KB stays, no one for the next 15 years...

Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
So for the next 15 years it will be "normal" to wait an hour for a bag...

Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
don't forget its only about handlers on the tarmac. menzies could start doing warehousing at BRU just like swissport.Jipe wrote:Apparently, it seems Menzies will come at BRU.
BRU's only hope would be that SN or LH start doing handling services
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
Home based carriers always can start doing selfhandling. They only need to find/train people, buy all the material and find place to park it. Make the cost-benefit calculation and if the benefit is bigger than the cost (like check-in????) they can start.
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
there's plenty of space on the A terminal's floor level. i think they just have to strengthen the floor
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
And what to do with the bag sorting system in the A terminal once they decide to use it?
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
A 3th handler in Brussels is still quite some time away. But SN can do their own handling anytime they want. So with SN doing more and more things themself (like maintenance), may they start their own handling also (maybe with the help of LH?)?

As a home based carrier, YES
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
does it take away the entire floor level? i've never been inside it actuallyschouppe wrote:And what to do with the bag sorting system in the A terminal once they decide to use it?
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
Yes I know, but I actually ment, is there a big chance that SN will start it's own handling?schouppe wrote:

no, pushback and deicing trucks, gpu's, apu's, ... its all expensive material.MR_Boeing wrote:Yes I know, but I actually ment, is there a big chance that SN will start it's own handling?schouppe wrote:

SN doesn't have the money for it currently
1 noselifter that can lift an A333 costs around 1milion euro so it needs a lot of pushbacks to earn back its money
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
Except from the offices, yes. Another (big) problem is that they indeed have to strengthen the floor and BAC will not be happy to pay for it.

It's again the cost-benefit question, like 'cnc' says, buying all the material, except the APU's as it is A/C equipment, is very expensive and you need also trained people to use these machines. It's not only the investment of material but you have to buy also the knwoledge (experienced people)
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
i ment ASU and ACU
Re: new KB for grondhandling services.
What do you mean with KB? Kredietbank? or rather Koniklijk Besluit, which should be translated in English by Royal Decree (RD).cnc wrote:new KB for grondhandling services
