I read at the end of §1 that the passenger terminal will receive some improvements: so far nothing special, but, when I read they will build a new hall between the two red towers (airside !!!) I can only imagine one reason to build it: TRANSIT ! (...... and than we are back to another topic    )

I may be only a small waiting room so the crowd don't have to wait in the rain ...
I don't believe LGG will ever have transit. it's just not the right place for that.

Cargo volume increase to 640 KT is great news (+ 32.6 % ) and by the same token, many work places ( we need it)
Pax at < 300.000 level is not good and to seasonal. IMH, development of Jetairfly at CLR has partly cannibalized LGG holiday core business.

For pax, it's no surprise ... we have more or less the same number than ost ...
Everybody wants to fly from CRL now, that's the place to be, unless specific destinations like Tel Aviv or the balkans.
Let's hope Beontop can be real one day ... the terminal is there, waiting to be used.
The future of LGG could be the low-cost long haul ... why is it taking so long to ryanair to offer some Europe-New York flights ?

When rwy will be extended at Gosselies, picture could be even worst for LGG].
I dont think that low cost/long haul is part of Ryanair business model. I 'm maybe wrong.
Anyway, MOL is a hart nut to crack en even more if you are not in the driving seat. Just ask to Vatry, MST and others how much it cost to welcom the Irish harp.

That's a shame.
How can you have good relation between LGG mgmt and Jetairfly now ... It's a war declaration.

In addition to that, It's hard to understand why they choose BRU for low cost.

I'm surprised that nobody posted this link already about the plans of the airport of Liege to start up a European hub for Halal products. You can find this also on other news chanels.

In this case Asian partners like Malaysian Airlines or airlines from the Gulf could be or are involved.

well, that's just a plan. It's like the biologistic plan (http://www.biologeurope.com/).
It's good that they have plans, but nothing is real yet I guess...

It's probably because nobody saw it.

But it is a good move, the muslim population in Belgium and Europe is becoming bigger and bigger, their customs to eat specific food is as well potentially a huge market, I would not be surprised to see Goat's from Egypt or other "Delikatessen" from the Middle east.

I have some contacts with people in the meat processing industry and Belgium is a considerable exporter of Halal meat ! So, Liège as a hub for halal food, not only to import it from abroad, but also to export.

World halal food market is estimated at 500 billions EUR...
Even a very, very, very small part of it would still be an interesting business. Why not ? إن شاء الله (Inch'Allah). ;)
